The Republic of Kiria is a nation that may appear at some point over the course of a playthrough. It doesn't have any cores or claims at the start of the game.
For the Republic of Kiria to form, the
Realm of Kiria must have done one of the following:
- Complete the 'In the Vermilion Court' focus and deny Rising Sun entry to the Plenum.
- Do not complete the 'In the Vermilion Court' focus.
After meeting either requirement, the Realm of Kiria must then let stability fall below 10%, causing the Cacophony to break out; the Republic of Kiria will spawn and can be tag-switched to.
Lore
Under a fiery sunset, the waters of the Great Mellifluve ran crimson.
In Chrysanthemum, the Western Sentinel of the Realm, kirin hooves shed kirin blood, though both sides bled equally. That morning, hundreds if not thousands of poor kirin had taken up arms against the loyalist garrison from Vermilion, intent on driving them out of the city and claiming it in the name of The Rising Fire, but the garrison had resisted. The kirin from Vermilion were armed with rifles, while the peasants carried pitchforks, scythes, spades, and whatever other tools they could get their hooves on, but the garrison was forty against four thousand. Though countless peasants died in storming the garrison's barracks, once the defenders ran out of ammunition, they were slaughtered to the very last. It was then that the anger of The Rising Fire reached a feverish pitch and boiled over.
Rising Sun watched from the banks of the Great Mellifluve as countless priests, mystics, and other affluent kirin were dragged from their homes and down to the water's edge. She had known many of these kirin in a past life, debated theology with them, had asked them for alms for the poor only to be snubbed by their indifference or pride. Now, they begged for their lives as they were taken down to the banks of the Great Mellifluve, where they were dealt with one by one, and their bodies tossed into its waters. Once it was over her followers and faithful gathered around to hear Rising Sun speak.
"There is no turning back now," Rising Sun warned them, her eyes dancing over farm tools all stained red with blood. "We have embarked on the great liberation of Kiria from the wasteful hedonists within The Way of Fire. Their failures have brought the realm to the brink of ruin, and we all have had to pay the price. Yet even as we suffered, they stood above us, interpreting our suffering as Concord's Will! Is Concord not a benevolent goddess? Does she not love her foals, the foals she entrusted with the last spark of the Primordial Fire? Why would she deign for us to suffer if she loves us so?"
"The truth is simple: this is not her will," Rising Sun continued, and the light glittering off the crimson waters of the Great Mellifluve outlined her in a red glow. "We have been lied to, my faithful kirin, by corrupt leaders who desire to profit off of our suffering! Even now, they invite foreigners into the country to better craft the machines of our oppression. They hold our beloved Matriarch Superior hostage within Vermilion's walls, twisting the Avatar of Concord to their covetous greed!"
The crowd let out a harsh roar of anger and disapproval, and Rising Sun matched their anger with a showmare's sneer of her own. "But we, The Rising Fire, will not have it! We shall be the true salvation of Kiria! Only we can save what is left of our home and our religion from those who would destroy it! Only we can march to Vermilion and free the Matriarch Superior from those who would use her as a puppet to their own ends!"
"And only we have the strength to do what must be done: to fight with every last drop of blood in our beating hearts, until Kiria is pure once more!

Biography:: Not much is known about the mare who calls herself Rising Sun, and what is known paints only a vague picture at best. By her own admission, Rising Sun was born in Chrysanthemum and studied to become a priestess in the Way of Fire, as such a lifestyle was the only way to escape the utter stagnation of The Silence while it still held Kiria in its stranglehold. But even as a priestess of The Way of Fire, the mare was often regarded by her peers as too smart for her own good and twice as cunning as the most mischievous fox. She would regularly debate her senior priests about the merits and drawbacks of strictly adhering to the Matriarch Superior's decrees when all they brought about was suffering and ruin for the people of Kiria, and was regularly chastised for it. For the mare who was too smart by half for the lifestyle she had chosen, Rising Sun had reached a frustrating theological dead end to the problems surrounding Kiria. Realizing that she would never advance as a priestess in The Way of Fire, Rising Sun sailed down the Mellifluve where she ultimately ended up in Verdant at the age of 20. Once there, she quickly realized that Verdant was prospering where Chrysanthemum languished. The Silence was still in full swing over the city, but the many island communities of Verdant had formed their own cooperative communes that worked together to the benefit of all without breaking any of the Matriarch's decrees. Additionally, there was no rigid religious structure that dominate the everyday lives of the kirin in the city, only an individual communion between the average kirin and Concord, with spiritual leaders to aid their followers along toward their own revelations. Rising Sun quickly immersed herself in these beliefs, and in no time at all, had risen to the top of this new sect of The Way of Fire. Naming her sect the Rising Fire, Rising Sun would return to Chrysanthemum to spread her new teachings to the kirin of the west, and made many visits to towns and workshops around Kiria before ultimately ending up in Vermilion as the Grand Gallop Onward progressed to bring her teachings to a new level of national awareness. Now, Rising Sun finds herself on top of the Realm's food chain, in a position of almost unlimited authority and power. The Rising Fire has risen with her as well, and her beliefs are ready to be shared across the Realm. The Rising Fire is grappling with The Way of Fire, and Rising Sun will be the one to bring about a new era of theology and change to Kiria, one it never could have imagined before. If certain accounts are true, the Aureolin Monastery, which is currently situated deep in Kiria's western reaches, was received, not built, by its founder Aureolin pre-written history. She had pondered deeply upon Concord's paradox that is the kirin and her nirik state, but upon reaching the height of revelation, she had burst into flames without descending into feral wrath. For this blessing upon kirinity, Concord gave her a towering temple—the world's first monastery—as both a gift and a responsibility to all future generations. Thus the legendary lineage of nirik warrior-monk Valiants—and to a painstaking extent, the more recent Vanguards—was born, continuing to this day as among the first places aspiring kirin monks travel to in search of inner truths as well as physical mastery through martial arts. Under the Children of Concord, the monastery has served as a major hub of propagating Trinitarianism, believing that the Valiant is not a balance between two kirin-nirik entities but is itself a third entity. |

Though for the sake of simplification sometimes referred to as a single organisation, Divine Mechanisms are better described as province-wide vocational communes that have co-opted modern technology into their calling, which is unlike the Griffonian stereotype of old-fashioned guilds single-hoofedly steering the course of an entire occupation. While the organisation of a provincial Divine Mechanism varies from village to village, a more common structure is based on the internationally familiar model of apprenticeship, though emphasis is put on how an apprentice is set to become a master of their hometown's version of the craft, not the general craft itself, creating room for vocational exchange as masters visit each other and share insights and quite literal tools of the trade. Of note is Kiria's industrialisation playing a key role in Divine Mechanisms. While Griffonian and even several Equestrian guilds diminished in the wake of their own industrial revolutions, the Divine Mechanisms and their own "guilds" have instead flourished by welcoming scientific advances into their craft, with a common saying being roughly translated as "A metal blade, I have made; a metal blade and its own family, my son has made." Craftskirin are expected to learn how to maintain their own home-sized factories, while new vocations as well as types of Mechanisms have risen to encompass the fields of research, construction, and early electronics. |

This leader is a commander of a Kirin Banner. The Vermilion Dynasty's Banner System codifies a warrior caste centered around familial clans, all of which can trace their lineage back to ancestors who had served in the army of the first Kirin Matriarch, Incandescent Dawn. This leader would have trained from a young age in martial arts and leadership, so as to carry on their Banner's proud legacy of military service to the Kirin Realm. All Kirin Banners are headed by a Patriarch- or Matriarch-Commander who are the most distinguished member of their clan — usually capable warriors and leaders in their prime. This leader may or may not be the topmost commander of their Banner, but regardless, they are a respected and experienced commander with much seniority.

As can be seen, the maximum value of KIC_democratic_var is 13, while the maximum value of KIC_authoritarian_var is 22; in addition, completing the necessary focuses for all of the Hundred Day Campaigns will give 4 points for KIC_authoritarian_var at minimum.
The values of KIC_democratic_var compared to KIC_authoritarian_var at the end of the Eighth Hundred Days campaign will affect the outcome as follows:
| Prereq | Event/Condition |
|---|---|
| Eighth Hundred Day Campaign completed (KIC_democratic_var > KIC_authoritarian_var) | The Democratic Epilogue focuses are unlocked after a series of events. |
| Eighth Hundred Day Campaign completed (KIC_democratic_var = or < KIC_authoritarian_var) | The Authoritarian tree is unlocked after a series of events. |
Having KIC_authoritarian_var at certain values at certain times will result in the following:
| Prereq | Event/Condition |
|---|---|
| KIC_authoritarian_var > 8 (Any time) | Trigger 'To Devour the Revolution' after several days Trigger 'No Easy Answers' after several days |
| KIC_authoritarian_var > 8 (When 'The Incendiaries, Institutionalised', 'Seize Northern Industry' 'Campaign Against Foreign Infiltration', 'Unity Within', or 'Paramountcy Without' focuses are completed ) | Fragrance rises up in rebellion. |
| KIC_authoritarian_var > 10 (Any time) | The Contumacy rises up in rebellion. |
In addition, every time a month passes post-civil war there is a chance that a famine may or may not break out, with a factor of 1 and 9 respectively. The chances of both can be affected through several factors:
