The time has come. Tired of oppression, the ponies of Equestria have risen up against their Changeling occupiers. Led by the Duumvirs Starlight Glimmer and Trixie Lulamoon, the Equestrian Liberation Front will not stop until their homeland has been liberated, and the changelings driven out. Though it may be difficult, we will continue to fight until victory is achieved! For Harmony! For the Princesses! For Equestria!
The Changeling Lands brought ruin to Equestria, smashing the Equestrian armies in the Great War. Overrunning any resistance that was offered, they continued to push until finally, the ponies were forced to capitulate. But while the Changelings may have broken their armies, they could not break their spirits. The Harmonic Resistance, led by two friends of Princess Twilight Sparkle, Starlight Glimmer and Trixie Lulamoon continued the fight against their occupiers, until finally things reached a breaking point. The situation escalated into a full blown revolt in form of the Equestrian Liberation Front.
Now, it is up to the Equestria Liberation Front to liberate not only Equestria, but to liberate all creatures living under Changeling oppression. For they still have the one thing that the Changelings could never take away: Hope. Creature of all ideologies and backgrounds rally under the banner of the Liberation Front and all have a single message in mind, For Freedom.
Starting Situation
The ELF starts in a fairly strong situation, centered on Manehatten, but is very fragmented. Chances are that its forces will be scattered around its territory, and a player will have to act fast to secure their situation against the Changelings. They may have to play defensively for a period of time until the ELF is ready to push, but the more territory the ELF takes the stronger it will become. For this reason, striking hard and fast is another possibility against the Queendom.
Military
The Equestrian Liberation Front starts with a total of 319.5k deployed ponypower, made up of 15 Onhooves Divisions, 18 12-width volunteers, and 6 12-width pegasi divisions. While this may not be a lot compared to their powerful enemy, the ELF also gets many focuses that spawn free divisions, allowing them to quickly bolster their army. Add in the unique mechanics the nation gets, and the ELF can easily rival the Changelings in military power if given some time and territory.
Threats and Opportunities
The Equestrian Liberation Front starts the game at a war with the Changelings, aiming to liberate the Equestrian core territories. They start with cores on all states that Equestria did, meaning that full manpower will be gained as you push them back towards the pre-war border. Should New Mareland exist and stayed loyal, they may aid you in fighting the Changelings with the Coalition of the Free faction.
Gameplay Mechanics
The Rise of the Resistance
For the Equestrian Liberation Front to rise, the Changelings must be victorious in The Great War against Equestria or one of its successor states, and hold ownership over their lands. Should Chrysalis neglect to establish the Manehattan Protectorate in time, the uprising will begin all across Eastern Equestria. If the protectorate was formed, then they will have to either fail to suppress the resistance in states or take Lilac's Gamble to rise up. However, the Gamble will also start them at a disadvantage due to the Breakdown of Social Order national spirit. The ELF will start in a much stronger position if the Manehattan Protectorate is never formed, so for an easier ELF run allow the uprising to occur that way.
State Decisions
The ELF has a series of unique state decisions for their cores. Each will be unlocked by a different focus in their focus tree, and they all have their own unique effects. They either take ponypower and command power or political power to take, however, so you may want to save both up for if you need to take them.
Raise Volunteers is an ability that can be taken once per state that you fully control with at least 25k population, once the focus Send out the Cadres is completed. It will spawn two Volunteer divisions to fight for the ELF.
Install Civilian Administration can be taken on any core state that is fully controlled by the ELF once Freedom for the Liberated is completed, and has a number of charges that slowly regenerate. It will transfer state ownership to you.
Incite Uprising will spawn 5 partisan divisions in any state controlled by the Changelings that is your core once Brave Ponies of the Resistance, Rise Up is finished. It has a maximum of 5 charges which slowly regenerate, and can only be done once per state.
National Focus
Initial focus tree of the Equestrian Liberation Front.
The Equestrian Liberation Front's focus tree is short but extremely powerful, giving large bonuses and many free divisions in a short amount of time. Many of them have unique effects, and are situational depending on if you need something in particular at that moment. For example, Endorse The Bits Gun will give 200 free infantry equipment every month as well as drastically decreasing the production cost of it, and Don't Forget Democracy will rotate your political advisors for free every 90 days. Unity At All Costs will remove the Breakdown of Social Order if you have it, and If We Must Die, We Shall Die... grants a special command power ability. These should all be used to their greatest extent to ensure victory against the Changelings, and liberate Equestria.
Trust In The Duumvirs is a pivotal focus, which can not be canceled and will start an event chain where you will get to decide between two different options which have different effects. Depending on the option you choose, Trixie and Starlight will get a new leader trait later in the war. It is also necessary for Twilight to return.
Once you take Canterlot, you will get a new set of decisions to search for information on the location of Twilight. The four locations you need to control are Yukka Island in the South-East, Canter Creek in the South-West, Rockville which is just north of Canter Creek, and Mariposa which is closer to the original Changeling-Equestrian border. Once all four decisions are taken, you will have 90 days to take Acornage before time runs out. Note that in a desperate situation, you can raise partisans in the state of Acornage and attempt to temporarily take control of the state with those divisions. Either way, Twilight will return to lead the Equestrian Liberation Front, represented by a new GUI available by pressing the crown on your personal nation interface, next to your welcome screen.
Secondary focus tree for the Equestrian Liberation Front.
This interface will be expanded upon once The Magic of Friendship focus is complete, unlocking a new focus tree below the first, starting with finding each of the five Element Bearers. As each one is found, The Friends of Twilight Sparkle modifiers, which can be found in the Alicorn Monarch interface will expand, giving more and more buffs to your nation. The rest of the second section, though, can not be started until you finish Equestria Reclaimed, meaning you will have to win the war with the Changelings first.
The last part of the second section involves post-war reconstruction and decision-making, where you will get to decide the future of the new Equestria. The choices you make will decide the outcome of the next Equestria Prime Minister elections between Prince Blueblood and Starlight Glimmer. No matter who wins, Equestria will be led into a new dawn, and though many problems may remain for the reborn nation, the future looks bright for all the ponies of the land.

Equestria was more than just a nation to the ponies in it. It was an ideal as much as anything else, and when it was taken away and the darkness of a world without it became the truth to millions of ponies, those who remain were given more than enough reason to fight to the bitter end to restore it.

The only way to truly be defeated is to give up. Front lines may collapse, cities may fall and the entire nation may be in bondage, but that does not mean we are defeated unless we accept it. If we remember this we will be invincible, for we will never, ever surrender again. Until the last fighter falls, until the last drop of blood and until the last gasp of air in our lungs: the ELF will never yield!
Leaders
This is a community maintained wiki. If you spot a mistake then you are welcome to fix it.
When Equestria fell, Starlight Glimmer was a reformed cult leader and Trixie Lulamoon a less than scruplous travelling magician, and yet it was these talents that saw them rise to become the leaders of the Equestrian Liberation Front. Having worked since the first days of the occupation, they used misdirection, deceit and - at times - simple ruthlessness to contest the changeling occupiers. Unlike their erstwhile (and in Trixie's case, reluctant) mentor, Twilight Sparkle, they had no notions of fighting fair. Still, Equestria needs whatever heroes it can get, and if they are what is available, then that is what they must be.
Though their friendship is a tempestuous one, it has remained steadfast, and they have learned to play off each other. Starlight Glimmer has established herself as the strategist and the planner whereas Trixie has become (in)famous as an able tactician and guerrilla commander. Their unorthodox backgrounds have informed their methods, and they managed to carry their efforts this far through these tricks.
It takes more than just tricks to lead a rebel army, however, and beyond the trickery and creativity stands two mares who, when all other heroes seemed to have failed, saw themselves called to step up and take over the fight. If they should fail, they know that other ponies will step up as well, because that is the Equestria they remember and will fight for.

Born: July 17th, 974, Whinnyapolis
Biography: Daughter of brewsters, Word Filter didn't grow up as a radical revolutionary. The earth pony earned her cutie mark writing an article to the school paper which led to her career as a local journalist. Her first (in)fame came from her scathing piece after the 997 Mill Disaster and on the noble financiers of the industries who'd esched regulations. This forced Word Filter to move into Fillydelphia where she worked for the newspaper Inquirer. She regularly targeted the incompetent aristocrats in her writings while advocating for democratic reform across Equestria. In particular she was inspired by republican writers from Griffonia and learnt Herzlander to translate them for publishment. Few times she directly targeted the royal government in the articles, even daring to criticize Celestia for maintaining the status-quo at the expense of the common pony.
The Great War only further radicalized Word Filter into an ardent republican. After the Inquirer was shuttered by the changeling occupiers, she operated an underground paper for a while before being inducted by local Harmonic Resistance cell. Over time her dedication and spirit led to her appointment as the local E.L.F commander. Even if some questioned the loyalty of somepony daring to question the right of princesses to rule Equestria.
