This state was meant to be a union between Ponies and Zebras, a compromise between the strength and security provided by unity and the ability to preserve their traditions. These ambitions, however, were badly wounded after the rampage of the Storm King and the fall of Tobuck to foreign criminals. The tribes have retreated to their old lands, and there they now prepare for the day they can reunite with their pony sisters and brothers. If it happens peacefully they will rejoice. If they must reclaim it with force they will not hesitate.

Lore
Since before the time of the founding of Colthage, the nomadic Imazeeb tribes have dwelled in northern Zebrica. Caring little for boundaries set by others, they've travelled as the seasons demanded and made their living through trading, farming and herding. Their nomadic life brought them into regular conflict with their neighbours though, and they quickly developed a reputation as ferocious mercenaries and raiders.
Their history is long and winding, yet in modern times it starts in 956, when a coalition of imazeeb tribes under the command of Mekiouzza of the Ataghan tribe swept out of the desert and into the lands of Tobuck. The mostly Maregyptian-descended pony population had long chafed under the rule of Warzena, and saw in the Imazeeb an opportunity to throw off this yoke. Yet instead of simply serving as mercenaries yet again, the Imazeeb came to remain and Tobuck became part of Zarantia, the first modern Imazeeb state.
With access to the important trading city and the fertile lands of the coast, the Imazeeb would be able to industrialise, found a modern state, rebuild their desert paths into a modern trans-zebharan railroad and for the first time, truly change. That was the plan at least, and though great strides were made during Mekiouzza's reign, it all came crashing down in 1005.
The Storm King's rampage hit the still fledgling nation hard. Tobuck fell swiftly and the Imazeeb tribes adapted by fleeing into the desert. With no other choice, Mekiouzza was left to follow them and abandon the coast. Though she vowed to return, the devastation wrought by the yeti hordes meant that the Imazeeb were still in disarray when the Equestrian gun runner Pea Shooter established himself in Tobuck to capitalise on the weapon stores the Storm King had built up there.
Pea Shooter's warlord allies are strong and well-armed, the economic and industrial heartland of Zarantia is out of Mekiouzza's reach, and the tribes view her with hesitation and doubt after the events of the last years. Mekiouzza, who had hoped that her twilight years would be spent enjoying the fruits of a lifetime of labour, now finds herself standing where she stood fifty years ago. Time will tell if Zarantia will go down in the history books as a strange anomaly, or if it will be able to reassert itself.

Starting focus tree
The first tree takes just over a year to complete and is split into three branches:
The left branch sends a message to Tobuck. This message can either be a threat or a gift, both of which give a -10% malus to stability or war support respectively. After that, it gives 1 civilian and military factory each, as well as 2 building slots.
The center branch can only be completed after sending a message to Tobuck. It decides how to unite the tribes and how to adapt to the world. The former in particular is noteworthy, as it decides the political path for the foreseeable future - uniting the tribes will open the Supremacist and Non-Aligned paths, while uniting them by diplomacy will unlock the Harmonic path. Other notable focuses include The Blue Sage, which gives an advisor that buffs political power gain and research speed, and Chief Ironbreaker, which grants breech-loaded weapons and maintenace companies.
The right branch centers around the Trans-Zebharan trade, and like the center branch, can only be completed after dealing with Tobuck. This branch doesn't really have any long-term effects except for the fourth focus, A Grand Caravan, which unlocks decisions to trade with neighboring countries and
Hippogriffia.
Tobuck refuses the deal
If after "New Year, New Hope" focus Pea Shooter didnt completed "Goodbye And Thanks For Bits" focus (a.k.a The Warlord Suspicion mission is failed), we get this tree. There is 3 new small trees each of them is separated by 2 paths, each other we get based on our chosen option we get by completing "The Sword Or The Scalle" , "The Old Ways" and "A Setting People" focuses in a starting focus tree. Every of these trees can be sorted by 3 types:
- Economical (The Issue Of Land)
- Army (The Issue Of War)
- Political (the Issue Of Unity)
Economical tree have two paths: "Our Own Tobuck" and "The Rules Of Desert".
Left path provides us research bonuses, additional resources, and civilian factories. Also, this path lowers illiteracy, replaces Slave Economy with Civilian Economy and increases social devolopment.
While right path also replaces Slave Economy with Civilian Economy and lowers illiteracy, this tree lower poverty. Also this tree focuses on buffing our production by giving us offmap militiary factories and useful for production, construction and resources national spirits.
Army tree have two paths: "Learning From The west" and "the Masters Of The Desert"
Left Path gives us doctrine discounts, artirelly manufacturer, research bonuses, unique techonology that buffs Engineer Companies (Entrechment speed: +20%, Breakthrought: +20%, Soft Attack: +20%, Hard Attack: +20%) and national spirits. National spirits in this path buffs special forces attack and defence, increases recruitable population by 2% and buffs all units army org. and exp. loss. Also, we get militiary factories and leaders get bonus attack and planning skill.
And right path give us military factories, unlocks infantry weapons manufacturer, provide our leaders bonus defence and logistic skills and unlock decisions to call tribe divisions. And then, this tree have national spirits that buffs our army. They buffs our army night attack, supply consumption, speed, army org. regain and org. movement loss. Noteable, last focus gives us new general and adds technology which modifies Reconnaissance Companies with (Soft attack: +50%, Hard attack: +50%, Desert Modifiers: +10%)
Political tree have two paths: "I Am Mekiouzza" and "The Tribe Of Tribes".
Left path will make our lands demilitiarized. Then, "Crush Those Who Would Divide Us" focus will unlock 3 decisions, each of them removes our population and stability, but at the end it will remove demilitiarized zone effect, regain our stability and will allow us to proceed with completion of this tree. Last focus will modify Mekiouzza Ataghan trait "Revered Aguellid" by (Recruitable Population Factor: +5%, War Support: +10%, Political Advisor Cost: -15%).
Right path is alot more peaceful. It gives us national spirits which buffs our production and population, and also adds 2 new general. Last focus increases our recruitable population factor and construction speed.
Reclaiming Tobuck back
After finishing any path of political tree new tree loads.
This tree is about restoring Tobuck previous glory. But first, we need to conquer it. We need to have more than 12 divisions and 4 militiary factories to pick first focus in this tree and declare war on Tobuck.
After we get our land back, we can keep on with completion of this tree. durning completion of this tree. We will get naval technologies (ships and weapons) and research slot. Also, we will increase our social development and decrease poverty.
"Her life's Work, Restored" focus require to conquer Chiropterra. You will be able to do that by clicking special decision in "Political Actions". And then, after we crush Chiropterran threat and finishing the last focus, we will get 3 different path based on our decisions we made previously.
Eternal Federation
To achive this tree you must choose the second option in "The Path To Unity" event and then choose "Umalez hesitates, and tries to be more measured" decisions.
Umalez decides to peacefully unite Zarantia under federation, where every tribe would be happy.
At the start Umalez Ataghan will get a trait called "First Among Equal" which give (Recruitable Population Factor: +5%, Stability: +5%, Political Advisor Cost: -5%). Then, we will get various national spirits which are useful for our population, ponypower and army (primary in defensive way), few factories and good amount of various resources.
Noteable, durning completion of this tree we will unlock decisions to invite harmonic nations into our faction (Hippogriffs, Warzena, Quaggatai and Colthagen) and to declare a war on countries with supremacy ideology.
Also, we get oil tree. As expected, this tree is related to... oil. We will get really much oil and also some national spirits. Last focus will increase our social and scientific devolopment.
Desert Masters
To achive this tree you can choose any option in "The Path To Unity" event but you have to choose opposite desicions in Umalez events. As example, if you chose first option, you need to choose "Umalez hesitates, and tries to be more measured" decisions to get this tree. And if you chose second option, you need to choose "Umalez resolves herself to be her mother's equal" decisions.
Umalez decides to focus on trading and traditions.
This is a really peaceful path, where Umalez Ataghan will create faction with either Hippogriffs or Maregypt (or we have option to stay alone) and build railways throught whole Zarantia. Also, we will get various national spirits, political advisors and wargoal on Quaggatai. Last focus will gain Umalez Ataghan a trait called "Revered Aguellid" which give (Recruitable Population Factor: +5%, Stability: +10%, Political Advisor Cost: -10%)
Also, we get oil tree. As expected, this tree is related to... oil. We will get really much oil and also some national spirits. Last focus will increase our social and scientific devolopment.
Zarantian Empire
To achive this tree you must choose the first option in "The Path To Unity" event and then choose "Umalez resolves herself to be her mother's equal" decisions.
Umalez's mother taught her everything what will help her to survive in this cruel world. She will lead the nation with her strong hoof and will show the world the power of Zarantia.
Umalez's authority is absolute. we will try to create faction with Coltagen, then we will get decisions on declraring war on Warzena and Quaggatai. Last three focuses will unlock decisions to core Chiropterra, Warzena, Zumidia, Quaggatai and Colthagen; give "Revered Aguellid" trait to Umalez Ataghan, which give (Recruitable Population Factor: +10%, Stability: +10%, War Support: +10%, Political Advisor Cost: -25%); and add national spirit.
Also, we get oil tree. As expected, this tree is related to... oil. We will get really much oil and also some national spirits. Last focus will increase our social and scientific devolopment.
Successful Tobuckan deal
If pea shoter completes "goodbye and thanks for bits" focus, zarantia will get tobuck back and Homecoming tree will load.
At start we get "extreme level of corruption" national spirit. Later it can be removed by "Law And Order", "Reminding Them Of Law", "Reestablishing Dominance", "Cleaning Up The Mess" and "School And Clinics" focuses.
Our starting focuses determines the way how we dealing with warlords:
Left path (A Sword For Bandits) will take some of our ponypower and guns in change with land doctrine discounts.
While right path (Gently With Cornered Animals) will get us a negative national spirit (which later will be removed) and give us equipment and Alesia Snezhnaya as general.
And then, after "The Pacification" focus is finished, we can proceed.
Homecoming tree can be separated by 3 areas:
- army (A Hybrid Warrior)
- political (The City Regained)
- economical (City Of Womders And Gold)
Army tree.
This tree will provide us navy and air technologies, buildings, research bonuses, ships, admiral and big amounts of doctrine descounts.
Middle area of army tree give us many great for defending bonuses.
Political tree.
Vasile Cel Tradat offers our his help. He looks like useful griffon, so why not?
We get Vasile as political adisior. And also we get national spirits and possibility to core tobuck using "integration" occupation law.
Economical tree.
Economical tree will give us buildings, resources, research slot and national spirits. Also, it will increase our social and scientific development, lower illitiracy, decrease poverty and replace Slave Economy with Civilian Economy.
If you removed Corruption national spirit completly, you will get Desert Masters tree and oil tree after completion. If not, you will get Vasile Sel Tradat tree.
The worst Possible news
To get this tree, you need to complete "Mayor of Tobuck" focus while having any level of corruption.
This path loads one new focus tree.
We get nothing good durning completion of this tree... Vasile breaks Umalez Ataghan and uses her in his interests, then he gets rid of Mekiouzza closest allies and knowing, that this wont be last forever, he tries to get as much as possible profit from dying nation.
Durning completion of this tree we will get various national spirits and resources, and also new general.
But most importantly, middle path of this tree will unlock "religious rituals" decisions. You need to keep doing them (The first and cheapest decision is most efficient. Also you need to do more than 15 of them) to get something new...
Anyway. Once "The Big Boss Of Tobuck" focus will be done, civil war starts.
From here, we can get two paths, based on what side we choose: we can join Communists and bring back our rural society, or keep playing as Rotten Puppet of Vasile.
Green anarchism
In two words, this tree means total deindustrialization. From hopes to be equal to the world we going back to tribes and communal society.
Durning completion of this tree, we will witness nothing but degradation of our society and economy...
On good side this tree will give us some factories (but still we will lose more of them than gain) and great national spirits for army.

Vasile Cel Tradat, Out!
Really short tree which can be fully finished in 70 days. Basically, Vasile will hire 2 devisions, stole every last valueable thing and then out. after completting last focus, we will give up to rebels.

Revered Aguellid

Mekiouzza was born as the oldest child of the leader of the Ataghan tribe. Ever the precocious child, her talent for leadership showed itself when the Tobuckian envoys came to seek aid from the Imazeeb tribes in throwing off the Warzenan yoke. Though not even a chief, she was the first to pledge herself to aid them and managed to both convince her parents as well as many others to join the cause. What more, her zeal impressed the Tobuckians, and as the tribes moved to liberate the city from its Warzenan overlords, the Ataghan was able to set the agenda. And within the tribe, the agenda became set by young Mekiouzza.
The victory against Warzena raised the Ataghan to the apex of their power among the tribes, and Mekiouzza was raised to become the new Aguellid - the chosen leader with the right to call the tribes to war - in recognition of her triumphs. While not officially the leader of Tobuck, the city and its surroundings knew who they relied on for protection and therefore allowed her great say in their affairs as well. Ever since, Mekiouzza has worked to bring Tobuck and the Imazeeb together into one, united nation akin to Colthage or Maregypt, and though the events of recent years have set her life's goal back by decades, she is nothing if not tenacious. Thankfully, in the end she managed to see what her mother needed her to understand, and in this realisation she found purpose. Her people's traditions and customs, her own doubts, indeed the lives of her people, all needed to be gambled if Zarantia was to survive. This artificial state, the final expression of her mother's raw determination, was only kept together by force. If it would remain intact that same force needed to be exerted. In the end, she realised that she shouldn't try to be Mekiouzza, and instead surrendered the authority her mother had claimed back to the tribes. She does not need to be the sole authority of Zarantia, and instead the council that her mother built can maintain that role, elevating all Imazeeb as her mother once said she wished to do. Her fears proved all too correct after her mother's death at the hooves of an assassin, and it was only thanks to the quick intervention of Vasile cel Tradat that things did not completely spiral out of control. These days, Umalez has come to resign herself to being reliant on her Brodfeldian advisor. She has her worries, but there is never time, and she seems to jump from one crisis to another. Ijirmed

The Worm Queen has been an eternal fixture in Imazeeb legends for centuries. As all things are born, so all things must die, and she is there to devour the dead and in doing so separate their spirits from their flesh. Rot, decay, the consumption of flesh in fire and by wind and water; everywhere that things wither is her domain. Her children are countless, from the smallest carrion feeder to the titanic Ijirmed that roam the deserts of the Zebhara, and in the end all things will come to her. She is no goddess of death though, as the realm of the dead is far beyond her reach. All she does is break apart that which was in order to make sure that something new can be born out of it.
As the girl Umalez cried out for Ijirmed to devour them all, a herald of the goddess did indeed hear her. Her body fell into the thrashing maws of the giant worm, yet the divine essence of the Igennet had permeated her and made her mind become one with the creature. Where it now ends and Umalez begins none can say, and neither can anyone say what is left of Umalez. One thing is clear though; the degradation that the promises of Tobuck offered would break the Imazeeb, as it has broken the world, and the Worm Goddess has decided to act. The world is sick, and her destruction is the cure. |
