When the Storm King invaded us with his army, we managed to avoid his wrath with either humble tribute, clever diplomacy, cunning trickery or by other means. Although we lost much of our treasury and many of our prized artifacts, the Storm King was content with leaving us alone for the most part. Some of our citizens grumble that we should've fought back more fiercely against the yeti warlord, but at least our country remains mostly intact.

When the hyenas arrived from the west in the 4th century ALB, they found these lands largely uninhabited, save for a few gargoyles or zebras – and the giraffes. Soon enough, the hyenas had conquered the disparate giraffe clans and enslaved them, forcing them to toil on vast plantations established by the settlers. However, the long-necked slaves never have taken their fate for granted, and vast garrisons are needed to enforce their shackles.
Biography: The silent face of the republic, Tagutswa was born to a family of minor bureaucrats and opportunists. Raised by wealth and what commodities could make their way to Twizanyika, he watched as his siblings and cousins made their way to minor seats all across the republic. Their shadow, and influence, opened the path for him to rise through the ranks of government.
He climbed the ladder slowly, spending years under his cousins who barked orders from behind their desks, he learned just how to please those who believed themselves above him with his boundless optimism and friendly demeanor. From cousin, to sibling, to father he served under almost every Gurira in the republic during his career.
After years of slow and steady efforts, Tagutswa emerged at the top of the visible chain, only to find the untouchable planter-pirate alliance standing taller. Despite his efforts, he’s been unable to dislodge either without fear of the other rising in their place, leading him to simply attempt to maintain a balance between the two factions for the sake of his family and his job.
