The Griffonian Empire, the bastion of monarchy and reactionary ideology in the Griffonian continent, had lasted for centuries. Yet in 978, the common people achieved what had been long thought impossible - they overthrew the empire, and paraded through the streets of Griffenheim, preparing to implement their broad agenda of Liberty, Prosperity, and Democracy.
In the end, the people's dream was not to be. The nobility of the Empire, renewed with common purpose, marched upon Griffenheim, and restored the monarchy of Grover V, forcing the supporters of the Republic to flee to the north, where Otto II of House Plumenjar was quickly overthrown by Republican forces.
With low food, disloyal armies, and roaming bandits, making it through the year could be a challenge for the Republic, let alone returning to Griffenheim and reversing the failures of 978.
Yet the Republican spirit and dream lives on. Griffonia will be free!
Lore
The Duchy of Cloudbury - Before 978 ALB
The Duchy of Cloudbury was founded in the year of 802, when the fractured counties of the north unified under the Count of Cloudbury, Albert II, who declared himself Duke Albert Plumenjar the First of Cloudbury. Albert bent the knee to the Griffonian Empire, and served the Grover family well as a bastion of Imperial rule in the north. Albert "The Victorious" also implemented key reforms to the Duchy's fractured military and agriculture, establishing feudalism.
Albert I died in 815, and was succeeded by his brother, Kristoffer I. Kristoffer's rule was benevolent, and he earned the nickname "The People's Duke" for his assisting of the local peasants and serfs of Cloudbury. Kristoffer would be succeeded by Kristoffer II, his son, whose reign was largely uneventful. Kristoffer II had three sons, Kristoffer III, who was mysteriously killed when a church collapsed on him, and then the line went to his brother, Otto "The Old" who ruled for 44 years. At this point, Cloudbury was still under the rule of the Griffonian Empire.
After Otto "The Old" came Frederik "The Weak", who gave more and more in tribute to the Empire, cementing Cloudbury as a poor backwater that needed Imperial help to do anything of note and to survive. Frederik died of old age and was succeeded by his son Otto II in 951, who kept the Duchy's reliance on Imperial goods and trade. Eventually, this would be his downfall.
Chaos In The Capital - The Revolution of 978
Back in Griffenheim, a sizable Republican movement had developed. Artillery officer Alexander Kemerskai had rallied a significant amount of common folk and officers around his growing faction. In the chaotic year of 978, Kemerskai made his move. The common griffons had had enough of being used by the largely corrupt nobility of the Empire, who cared little for the commonfolk. Hundreds of thousands of commoners marched towards the Imperial Palace, demanding the overthrowing of the Imperial government, the execution of Grover V, and the establishment of a presidential, constitutional republic under Kemerskai. They got two of these wishes. The Imperial place was stormed, and Kemerskai was determined to be the first President of the Griffonian Republic by an almost unanimous vote, but unfortunately for the revolutionaries, Grover V escaped with the nobles and plotted in secret to return to the Imperial throne.
With the collapse of the Empire's power, nations across the Griffonian continent declared independence one by one, notably the Kingdom of Wingbardy and the Kingdom of Aquileia, marred by its own constant conflicts with Republican revolutionaries under a man very similar to Kemerskai, the notorious Theodore Verany.
It appeared that the dreams of the revolutionaries had been achieved. The three-hundred-year rule of the Grover dynasty had been ended, and the people ruled over the Griffonian Republic, where free elections reigned, and communists, socialists, and republicans fought together, if only for the time being. But the Empire stole our dream from us. While the Empire had been ended by Kemerskai's forces, the nobility still had strength, and in 979 ALB assembled an army and drove Kemerskai and his supporters out of Griffenheim. They had no place to go to but the Duchy of Cloudbury, a weak, pitiful, duchy in the North.
Blood In The North - The End of Ducal Rule
Otto II Plumenjar had difficulty adjusting to Imperial collapse. His duchy was perhaps the one hit the hardest by the empire's collapse, and he had no other nation to turn to for help in this drastic time. His people began to starve, and armed with the dream of a revolution like that of 978, they organized a large scale general strike and peasant revolution. A massive famine and industrial shortage following the end of Griffonian aid had left the people without access to food, water, furniture, repairs to their crumbling infrastructure, and much more. Griffons were forced into the streets, where they found solace in the ideas of the Republic.
Kemerskai's forces marched north, capitalizing on the fate of the Duchy of Cloudbury and mobilizing the peasants to fight for the Republican cause. Mayors and local governors took up arms with Kemerskai, and declared independence from the Duchy to fight for the Griffonian Republic. Peasants took to the streets of Cloudbury, Lostgate, Bleakspire, and many other towns and cities across the Duchy, calling for the deposition of the three hundred-year rule of House Plumenjar.
Generals Reinhard Suntail and Claus Rosewing, Kemerskai's most trusted commanders, led the charge against forces loyal to the Duchy, and eviscerated them at the Battle at the River. Otto II had no choice but to surrender to the vastly superior Republican military, who showed him no mercy. He was lynched by partisans, and his body was hung on display outside the once-grand Great Plumenjar Palace, along with his wife and adult sons. After the destruction of the Duchy, the Republic consolidated power, and would eventually purge the rest of the Plumenjar dynasty. Restorationists, however, found support in a cadet branch that was formed during the days of the County of Cloudbury. Their chosen heir, August, would soon die, and his son, Oskar Erik Plumenjar, now in the Northern Tribes, swore vengeance against the government of the Republic.
A Dying Nation - The Republic in 1007
The Griffons of the Republic are an odd group. They include revolutionaries, exiles, criminals, former Imperial divisions, and existing residents of the mountains.
It was thus unsurprising that disagreements quickly grew. Socialists, angry at Kemerskai's suspending of the constitution and the military's ruthless warlordism, founded the Republic of Skynavia, based on the principles of libertarian, democratic socialism.
The Republic today is plagued by numerous issues. Their once grand and powerful armies act like warlords, plundering the countryside. Commanders Reinhard Suntail and Claus Rosewing, once some of Kemerskai's most trusted men, have gone into the north of the Republic, where they rule as bandits. The Constitution, guaranteeing the rights of everygriffon, has been suspended, and elections are no longer held. Each election ends in a 100% vote for President-Marshal Kemerskai, who some claim has become a dictator. Even food production is short.
Yet the Griffonian Republic is not out yet. Its leader Kemerskai, though he has been criticized as a dictator, is clever, charismatic and driven, and still holds a fanatic devotion for liberty and democracy, the principles that the Republic holds dearest. The people still believe in the Republican dream. And all remember that one day in 978, where the Griffonian Republic achieved the impossible, and ended the empire that had lasted for centuries.
Factionalism in the Republic - Socialists, Conservatives, and Harmonists
The National Republican Party has always been a big-tent party of Republicans opposed to Imperial rule. This has created three major factions in the party:
Socialist Branch of the National Republican Party: Rikard Astler
Rikard Astler is a popular politician among the common folk, and his movement has attracted many peasants and those disaffected with the dictatorial policies of President-Marshal Kemerskai. His movement has close ties with trade unions and advocates for strengthened trade union and worker's power through industrial democracy and worker's self management. Astler's party is mostly pacifist, although Astler respects the necessity for a war against the Empire. His party is democratic and loyal to the three principles, despite being influenced so much by socialist policies.
Harmonic Branch of the National Republican Party: Schnabel Sunglider
Schnabel Sunglider is a hardened republican revolutionary - he lost his eye in The Battle of Crona against forces loyal to the Imperials, where he was forced to retreat, seeing his comrades die before him. His experiences made him both militarist and idealist - he has a fanatic devotion to liberty, democracy, and the idealistic principles that guided the Republic in their first Revolutionary War. This has also made him a militarist, who advocates for total reunification of the Griffonian continent under a regime with truly free elections.
Constitutionalist Branch of the National Republican Party: Heinrich Kingfeather
Heinrich Kingfeather is a political pragmatist and close advisor to President-Marshal Kemerskai. He advocates for capitalist, conservative economics and pragmatic foreign and domestic policy revolving the Empire. His party understands the conditions the nation is in, but he has been criticized by opponents for his concessions to generals and controversial statements, including one in which he said he would rehabilitate Imperial politicians in the event of a second revolutionary war.
Gameplay
Starting Situation
The Republic starts in some deep waters. It has a whole laundry list of negative national spirits that cripples the nation on every front, which requires progression in the focus tree to remove. Its starting industry is quite weak, and only 1 civilian factory will be usable at the start of the game. Its starting military is relatively large however, consisting of 26 divisions: 13 Republican Infantry Divisions, 11 Republican Militia, 1 Republican Mountaineer Division and 1 Reserve Division. They also start with a Navy consisting of 4 Destroyers, 1 Heavy Cruisers, 1 Light Cruiser and 2 Submarines, and an airforce made up of 20 Fighters.
While the Republic is at the start much weaker than the Herzland nations to the South, it is still easily the most powerful nation in Northern Griffonia.
By getting rid of its negative national spirits and dealing with its northern neighbors, the Republic can rapidly grow in strength, allowing it to challenge the Empire eventually.
Threats and Opportunities
- Griffonian Empire
- The Empire is the number one target of the Griffonian Republic, and conquering Griffenheim should be the main goal of the Republic. The Republic in most paths will eventually get a war goal to topple and annex the Empire.
- In most cases, the Empire will become resurgent and militarily reunify Herzland, becoming a military superpower that can easily crush the Republic if the Republic is not careful. They will sooner or later invade the North, with the Republic as their primary enemy.
- On the rare occassion that the Empire is not unified, it may be possible to divide and conquer its vassals individually all the way to Griffenheim.
- Kingdom of Vedina
- The Republic's western neighbors, the Republic in most paths will have the opportunity to get an annex war goal on Vedina and core their territories. Vedina is usually weaker against the Republic.
- Harmonist Vedina may join the Republic as an ally instead of getting conquered and cored.
- A Supremacy Kingdom of Vedina will eventually get war goals on the Republic, but the Republic gets its war goals far earlier than they do, so this is usually a non-issue.
- Sunstriker Clan
- The Republic's eastern neighbors, the Republic in most paths will have the opportunity to get an annex war goal on Sunstriker Clan and core their territories. The war is usually extremely easy due to their weak military and weak industry.
- A Supremacy Sunstriker Clan might launch border raids on the Republic and possibly take over some of the eastern provinces.
- If Runa (the Harmonists) takes power, they will eventually hold a referendum, usually uniting it with the Republic, allowing the Republic to freely annex and gain cores on them.
- Socialist Republic of Skynavia
- The Republic's northern neighbors, the Republic in most paths will have the opportunity to get an annex war goal on Skynavia and core their territories. Skynavia's units are usually extremely weak, and the Republic can easily conquer them.
- A Harmonist or Communist Republic has the opportunity to reconciliate with Skynavia. If they agree, they will become a Republican puppet.
- Kingdom of Aquileia
- A Republican Aquileia is the Griffonian Republic's best friend. The two republics have a lot of opportunities to ally with each other either through the Entente, the Republican Pact, or just by declaring war on the Empire at the same time. Fighting against the Empire is significantly easier with the Aquileian Republic on the Griffonian Republic's side.
The President-Marshal's Speeches
If Alexander Kemerskai remains in power, depending on the events happening in the rest of the world, decisions may be unlocked where he gives speeches commenting on recent events. These speeches cost 5 political power each, and grant some simple bonuses like party popularities.
Other Mechanics
- Demanding Griffenheim - If another nation owns Griffenheim then you get a decision to demand Griffenheim from them, getting a war goal if they refuse. Nations are more likely to give Griffenheim if they have high relations, are a fellow member of the Republican Alliance, are harmonic, and you are a fair bit stronger then them.
Focus Tree
Risk of Civil War
The first issue at hand is dealing with the Republic's unruly generals, represented by the national spirit Unruly Army. General Reinhard Suntail and Claus Rosewing have been causing significant trouble for the Republic since their exile to the north. Both generals are dissatisfied with Kemerskai's rule, and still control a significant number of troops, putting the Republic at the risk of a civil war.
There are two paths available from the start: "Plot Against Kemerskai" or "Support the President-Marshal".
- Plot Against Kemerskai: Suntail and Rosewing will start to gather forces in the north, begin actively sabotaging Kemerskai's rule, and finally launch a civil war to depose Kemerskai.
- The civil war begins immediately when the focus "The Battle For Cloudbury" is completed, allowing the civil war to happen much earlier in this path.
- Support the President-Marshal: Kemerskai has decided to take action and deal with Suntail and Rosewing. His two advisors propose two different solutions: Schnabel Sunglider, a political idealist, advocates sacking the commanders and reforming the military, while Heinrich Kingfeather, a political pragmatist, advocates placating the generals and getting things back on track.
- In this path, until the final "Loyalty to the Revolution/President" or "Crisis Averted" focus is completed, a series of 4 events will slowly fire, indicating increasing unrest in the country before launching the civil war on the 4th event. The first 3 events will give the player a choice to spend PP to increase the time until the next event arrives.
- Reform the Military: Sunglider's "idealistic" plans, this path will take longer but will give more bonuses. Suntail and Rosewing will be removed from command in this path.
- The end of this path grants a choice of two focuses: Loyalty to the Revolution or Loyalty to the President, which grant different bonuses and unlock the "Bolster the Left-NRP" path and the "Enforce Martial Law" paths respectively.
- Placate the Generals: Kingfeather's "pragmatic" plans, this path is shorter but won't give a lot of bonuses.
If the civil war begins, players will get a choice between continuing playing as the Republic, or play as the revolting National Republican Army instead.
If the civil war begins, the Republic cannot take the focuses that conclude this section of the tree ("Republican Victory", "Loyalty to the Revolution/President" or "Crisis Averted"), preventing progression until the civil war is over.
Stabilizing the Republic
After taking the focuses that conclude the first section of the focus tree ("Republican Victory", "Loyalty to the Revolution/President" or "Crisis Averted"), the next section of the tree is unlocked, where the government tries to establish proper control over the Republic.
There are 3 choices of political paths, 1 of which further subdivides into 2 more paths. All three paths eventually remove The Language Issue, Banditry, and Risk of Famine national spirits.
- Bolster the Left-NRP (Communist): Available with Republican Victory (under Plot Against Kemerskai) or Loyalty to the Revolution (under Reform the Military). The democratic socialist councilors of the Left-NRP led by Rikard Astler rallies the people under their banner, and makes a vote of no confidence that ousts the authoritarian Kemerskai from power and forces him to retire. Rikard Astler becomes the interim president, forming a coalition government with the Harmonists, and the state ideology changes to Communist.
- Kemerskai, despite his initial protests, soon accepts Astler's rule and insists to remain as a Marshal.
- A Civilian Government: Available regardless of the path taken to resolve the unruly military. Kemerskai will work to separate the military from the politics and empower the civilian government.
- Establish the Sunglider Cabinet (Harmony): Schnabel Sunglider of NRP-Centre will form a new cabinet. This path is more focused on military industry development. This path also switches the state ideology to Harmony.
- Maintain the Kingfeather Cabinet (Non-Aligned): Heinrich Kingfeather will maintain his current cabinet. This path is more focused on civilian industry development.
- The final focus in this path, "Parliamentary Elections", allows the player to give a boost to Communist, Harmonist, or Non-Aligned ideologies.
- Enforce Martial Law (Non-Aligned): Available with Crisis Averted (under Placate the Generals) or Loyalty to the President (under Reform the Military). Kemerskai will declare martial law to pacify the country.
Showdown With the Empire
The Republic has rebuilt itself and secured its revolution, and now it's time to deal with its eternal enemy, the Griffonian Empire. The Republic will have the option to pursue an offensive or a defensive policy towards the Empire; the defensive option is only available if the Republic is Non-Aligned, meaning that a Communist and Harmonist Republic will only have the offensive option.
- The Task Ahead: This path is the offensive path. This path gives 10% war support, 2% recruitable population, 5% division recovery rate, and 5% factory/dockyard output, and volunteer division buffs. Finish The Revolution, unlocked after the Republic has dealt with Skynavia, Vedina, and Sunstriker Clan (see below), grants annex war goals on all Herzland nations.
- The Griffon Tutelage: This path is the defensive path. This path gives 3 military factories, 150 political power, 5% political power gain, 5% stability, 5% war support, 3% recruitable population, 20% land/coastal fort and anti-air construction speed, and land forts on all states in the Republic-Feathisian border. This path does not give a war goal on the Empire.
- Shared content:
- The Republican Pact: Creates the Republican Pact faction, and invite likeminded Republics to the faction. Nations invited to the Republican Pact can join, refuse, or sign a mutual guarantee. Nations are more likely to join the Republican Pact if they have high relations with the Griffonian Republic.
- The Socialist Republic of Skynavia can be conquered and cored, or reconciled if the Republic is Harmonist or Communist. If Skynavia accepts reconciliation, they will become a puppet of the Republic. If they refuse, the Republic will get a war goal on them.
- The Kingdom of Vedina can be conquered and cored.
- The Sunstriker Clan can be conquered and cored.
- Tricolor Over Griffenheim
After the Republic defeats the Empire and completes the Republican Revolution, it's time to decide the fate of the oppressive Empire.
"Tricolor Over Griffenheim" will unlock an event where the Republic decides what kind of Republic it wants to become.
- Centralization will give industry benefits and cheaper annex cost.
- Decentralization gives a cheaper puppet cost, a tech sharing group, and an opportunity to faction members as integrated puppets.
- Alliance of Nations will give bonus to relations, tech sharing group, an opportunity to puppet faction members as dominions.
Following "Tricolor Over Griffenheim" are four focuses regarding what will the Republic do with Emperor Grover VI, the nobility, the Archonate, and lastly Kemerskai's own noble family, the House of Kemerskai.
- Grover VI may be exiled to Equestria or liberated as a citizen of the Republic. Communist Republic only has the option of exiling Grover VI.
- The nobility may be executed or simply stripped of their titles.
- The Archonate may be replaced with impartial archons or loyal Republican archons.
- Kemerskai's noble nephew, August II, may be judged as a nobility or let go. This focus is bypassed if the Republic is Communist.
"The First Election" will see Kemerskai resigning as the President and begin the first General Elections of the Griffonian Republic to elect a new President. There are three possible candidates: Heinrich Kingfeather, Schnabel Sunglider, and Rikard Astler. The availability of the presidential options depends on the Republic's current ideology.
- Table of Presidential Options
Republic's Current Ideology | Heinrich Kingfeather (Non-Aligned) | Schnabel Sunglider (Harmony) | Rikard Astler (Communist) |
---|---|---|---|
Non-Aligned | Yes | Yes | No |
Harmony | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Communist | No | Yes | Yes |
The Necessary Measure
The focus The Necessary Measure is unlocked if the player had taken the Enforce Martial Law political path. Upon taking the focus, President-Marshal Kemerskai declares an indefinite period of national emergency, supposedly in order to strengthen the Republic to achieve the Republican dream. Kemerskai enacts martial law and becomes a dictator. This unlocks a new political focus tree, replacing the default political focus tree.
Kemerskai will begin purging all dissidents from his country, and crack down on the riots on the streets with force. He will install a puppet parliament and continue to promise democracy in the future. After these are done, Revenge For The Betrayal Of 986 grants an annex war goal on the Socialist Republic of Skynavia and allows Skynavia to be cored.
After conquering the Socialist Republic of Skynavia, Kemerskai suddenly falls gravely ill. Kemerskai's son, Alexander Kemerskai Jr., meets with his father on his deathbed. Kemerskai laments that he had always been working for the greater good of the Republic, but his actions will result in him being remembered as a tyrant. Kemerskai pleads to his son to restore democracy and not repeat his mistakes. A few days later, Kemerskai dies, and all powers are transferred to Kemerskai Jr. Kemerskai Jr. now has two choices: restore the democracy or continue the national emergency.
- Keep Our Promises: Kemerskai Jr. has decided to restore the democracy. The state ideology becomes Harmony, and Kemerskai Jr. begins to restore the political freedoms that were shut down by his father.
- Fresh Elections: Kemerskai Jr. will restart democratic elections and elect a new head of state. There are three candidates for this election: Stefano Ariveli, Schnabel Sunglider, or Walter Emerich.
- Continue The Dictatorship: Kemerskai Jr. has decided to continue the martial law. Kemerskai Jr. doubles down on the dictatorial policies of his father; he abolishes the parliament, maintains military supremacy, and even declares his son, Johannes Kemerskai, as his successor.
Regardless of the political path taken, the Republic's plans to overthrow the Empire remains unchanged. Both paths share a central branch of the focus tree focusing on expansion and defeating the Empire. This section grants annex war goals and cores on the Kingdom of Vedina, Sunstriker Clan, all Herzland nations, and Western and Central Griffonia.

Harmony (Harmonic Republicanism)
National Republican Party |
Stefano Arivelli hails from the city of Karthin, in Wingbardy. After the death of King Gumberto in 972 ALB, his family moved to the Empire, where they were not welcome due to hostile attitudes toward Wingbardians. Stefano joined the army, but was consistently mocked for his Wingbardian upbringing, and found solace in the Republican, pan-griffonian movement developing in the region. Stefano would eventually participate in the Revolution and the Long March. However, he was unable to speak Cloduburian and only knew a small amount of the Herzlander dialect. While a banking expert from his time in the Wingbardian School of Economics, he has begun to drink and waste himself, fed up with his inability to interact with most of the Republic's people.
The only thing keeping him with the Republic is his fanatic loyalty to the revolution and to his greatest friend, Heinrich Kingfeather, a fellow academic. As Kingfeather's de-facto second-in-command, Arivelli has pushed through pragmatic reform and business encouragement in accordance with the principles of Prosperity and Liberty. |

Harmony (Harmonic Republicanism) | Walter Emerich was born to a family of merchants in Winterbell, Strawberry, and was expected to join the family business at the Griffing river. Emerich, however, had different plans for his destiny, and when he turned 16, he bid his parents farewell and took a steamboat down the Griffing to Griffenheim.
City life, however, was not what Emerich believed it to be - and he soon wished to be back in Strawberry. Disillusioned with the poverty and strife in the capital following the death of the popular Grover IV, Emerich became active in underground republican circles. When revolution broke out in 978, Emerich rejoiced, and participated in the storming of the Imperial palace along with thousands of commoners. Despite not having a shred of military experience, he was appointed as an officer by the President-Marshal for his actions in the storming of the palace, but most historians attest Kemerskai appointed him to ensure support among fanatic republicans - who still viewed him as an opportunist. Emerich learned quickly from his fellow officers, participating in the First and Second Interriver Campaigns - but was defeated at the Second Battle of Vinnin by Erich Ebonwing. Emerich would subsequently participate in the Long March and post-revolutionary politics, being appointed provisional senator of Brenna by Kemerskai, a position he holds to this day - although now he stands as a military governor, fanatically loyal to the Marshal who gave him a new life. |

Pan-Griffonian Dream
After electing the first President, a new focus tree is unlocked, containg the policies of the three possible Presidents and a large tree focusing on achieving Pan-Griffonian ambitions and liberating the rest of the continent from monarchism.
This section of the focus tree is similar to the conquest trees for the Griffonian Empire, in that the Republic will gain large amounts of war goals on regions of Griffonia through different focuses. The Republic will first focus on Western and Central Griffonia, before moving on to Southern and Southeastern Griffonia. However, if the Southern and Southeastern Griffonia are under the control of liberal governments, the Republic may choose "Leave the South Alone" and skip the conquests of Southern Griffonia.
After completing the conquests, the Griffonain Republic will organize the second Presidential election, a pan-Griffonian election that will span across the entire Republic. There are eight possible presidents: Gerben Kogchel, Rikard Astler, Genevieve Guildedwing, Schnabel Sunglider, Theodore Verany, Heinrich Kingfeather, Gallo Ventriglio, and Alexander Kemerskai Jr.
Upon selecting "The First Pan-Griffonian Elections", an event will fire discussing the NRP Party Primaries for the second election. The player may choose Verany, Kemerskai Jr. or the current NRP president (Kingfeather, Sunglider, or Astler) as the new NRP candidate for the election.
When "The First Pan-Griffonian Elections" completes, the actual election event will fire. Four options for the new president will be available, being Kogchel, Guildedwing, Ventriglio, and the candidate selected in the NRP primaries.
Congratulations on restoring the Republic and bringing democracy to all of Griffonia!

Alternate Path - National Republican Army
The National Republican Army may revolt during the initial civil war risk section, if the player goes down the "Plot Against Kemerskai" path or takes too long to complete "Support the President-Marshal" path. When the civil war begins, the players will get a choice between continuing playing as the Republic, or play as the National Republican Army instead.
The National Republican Army tree begins with a transitional section that grants some immediate bonuses and a few divisions to assist in the civil war. Once the NRA wins the civil war, "Consolidate Military Rule" can be taken to further progress the focus tree.
After Kemerskai dies, Suntail and Rosewing will begin a power struggle among themselves due to their incompatible ideologies. Suntail is an anti-monarchist ultra-nationalist, while Rosewing is a constitutional monarchist. The focus "The Power Struggle" triggers an event where one of the warlord will purge the other and take power. The focus tree diverges after this.
The New Marshal
Suntail has purged Rosewing alongside his faction, and has instituted the rule of the National Revolutionary Front, creating the Griffonian National Republic.
The initial section for Suntail involves gearing the nation for war against the Empire. The focuses will remove the Risk of Famine and Banditry national spirits, change the economy law to Early Mobilization and mobilization law to Service by Requirement, along with several positive national spirits that grant general bonuses such as stability, Supremacy support, and combat bonuses. "An International Coalition" will create the faction Republican Pact.
Following the initial section, Suntail will have further focuses that allow him to get war goals on the Kingdom of Vedina, Socialist Republic of Skynavia, the Sunstriker Clan, and finally the Griffonian Empire itself. After conquering them, Suntail gets focuses to core their territory.
After conquering the Griffonian Empire and taking Griffenheim, the focus "The Justice Of The Gods" will have Suntail will enact his justice on the royalty, executing them en masse. Following this, a new focus tree is loaded.
A Warlord In Griffenheim
Suntail, now controlling over the Imperial Heartlands, proclaims the three new principles of the national republic: Security, Nationalism, and Prosperity. After securing the rule over Heartlands under the new three principles, the focus tree will grant war goals on the rest of the Griffon parts of Griffonia to truly achieve the pan-Griffonian dream.
The Old Revolutionary
Rosewing has purged Suntail and his faction, and prepares to restore the Duchy of Cloudbury. Oskar Plumenjar is restored to the position of the Duke of Cloudbury under the name Oskar I, and the state's ideology is changed to Non-Aligned.
There are two major political sub-paths for this path: "Placate Far-Right Generals", and "Placate Remaining Republicans". Both grants positive bonuses and removes the Banditry and Risk of Famine national spirits.
- Placate Far-Right Generals: The government allies with the far-right generals who restored the monarchy to build a stronger Cloudbury. The military will build a stronger Cloudbury by purging the Republicans, increasing their own influence, and restoring traditional institutions. There is one small choice at the start of this path, of whether or not to limit the powers of Duke Oskar I.
- Al Magt Til Hertugen: Oskar I's powers are not curtailed, and he stays as the head of state.
- Curtail Ducal Power: Oskar I's powers are curtailed due to his democratic sympathies; Otto Saxhagen-Plumenjar replaces Oskar as the head of state under the name Otto III.

Plumenjar Restorationists |
Oskar Plumenjar was never supposed to be duke of Cloudbury. Oskar was born to the brother of Crown Prince Otto (who would later rule the Duchy), August Plumenjar, in 956 ALB. When Kemerskai's revolution was brought north, and his uncle, Otto II was executed by Kemerskai, the rest of the legitimate Plumenjar line was taken captive and eventually killed.
While this prevented a takeover from monarchist forces, there were still Plumenjars who were alive. The death of August in 975, just before the revolution, pressured Oskar to parley with the Republican government in order to save his own family and line. Oskar's sister, Oskar, and his son, Otto, all were spared by the Republican government - as a tool of propaganda or as a genuine act of mercy nobody is truly certain. While the Republicans allowed Oskar's sister and her son to stay in the Republic, Oskar himself was exiled to the Northern Tribes. In the tranquil tribes, he has become a quiet, well-mannered griffon, who was until now not interested in pursuing his claim. Oskar preferred to live a peaceful life in the Northern Tribes, developing friendships with the local ponies there and becoming officially bilingual. Just now, however, Oskar was restored to the throne by warlord Claus Rosewing, who declared him Oskar I of the Duchy of Cloudbury. The line of Plumenjar would continue, and Cloudbury would once again stand under monarchic rule! |

- Keep Rosewing: Claus Rosewing is appointed as the statsminister.
- A Noble Statsminister: Otto Saxhagen-Plumenjar, Oskar's nephew, is appointed as the statsminister.

Of the eight focuses that follow, the four focuses in the center ("Increase Northern Policing", "Aid For The Natives", "Hand Out The Pardons", and "Northern Industrial Primacy") are shared between all three sub paths. The two focuses on the far left ("Continue Kemerskai's Economic Plan" and "Suppress Nobility Power") are shared between Sivenhof and Rosewing. The two focuses on the far right ("Hierarchical Economics" and "Ensure Noble Privileges") are exclusive to Otto Saxhagen-Plumenjar.
Each of the final three focuses in this section are associated with one statsminister. Tobias Sivenhof gets "Et Frit Cloudbury", Claus Rosewing gets "Jeg Drømte Mig En Drøm I Nat", Otto Saxhagen-Plumenjar gets "Cloudbury Som Det Skulle Have Været".
The political section completes with one final choice of focuses between "Curtail Military Influence" and "A Gentle Overseer". Tobias Sivenhof can only choose the former, Claus Rosewing can choose between both, and Otto Saxhagen-Plumenjar can only choose the latter.
- Foreign Policy
After completing the political section of the tree (by completing "A Dynasty To Last", "Curtail Military Influence", or "A Gentle Overseer"), the foreign policy focuses become available. There are three mutually exclusive paths:
- Greater Ambitions: The Duchy of Cloudbury will proclaim the Kingdom of Cloudbury, and gain access to focuses that lets them conquer and core the territories of the Kingdom of Vedina, Socialist Republic of Skynavia, and Sunstriker Clan.
- Bend The Knee: The Duchy of Cloudbury will submit to the Griffonian Empire and join the Reichspakt, the faction led by the Empire.
- Ally With Northern Monarchs: The Duchy of Cloudbury will form the Northern Alliance, and reach out to northern monarchies for an alliance.
- The three countries that can be invited to the alliance are Non-Aligned or Harmony Kingdom of Vedina, Harmony Northern Tribes, and Non-Aligned Sunstriker Clan.
- If the monarchies of any of the three countries are overthrown (i.e. the country's ideology is not the aformentioned ideologies, which are associated with the country's monarchy), the alliance focus is bypassed, and "Restore Overthrown Monarchies" is unlocked, which grants puppet war goals on the overthrown monarchies.
- "Strike At Skynavia" gives an annex war goal against the Socialist Republic of Skynavia. After conquering Skynavia, "Finalize The Partition" will partition the lands of Skynavia between Vedina, Cloudbury, and Northern Tribes (coring the lands to their new owners); Cloudbury keeps Braunles, Vedina gets Little Griff, and Northern Tribes gets the rest.

The Dual Monarchy
Should Cloudbury conquer Griffenheim, a decision will be unlocked where the leaders of Cloudbury will prepare to unite Cloudbury and Herzland into a Dual Monarchy, the Kingdom of Cloudbury-Herzland. A new political focus tree will be unlocked.
Immediately after Cloudbury-Herzland is proclaimed, skepticism begins to pour in, giving the country the national spirit "Skepticism On All Sides", which reduces daily PP gain by 0.15, reduces division organization by 15%, reduces recruitable population factor by 25%, and reduces stability by 10%.
A new prime minister will have to be appointed to lead the new nation of Cloudbury-Herzland. There are four options, each one corresponding to one political path:
- Tobias Sivenhof (Harmony): Sivenhof will liberalize the country and prevent another Republican Revolution by appeasing the masses.
- Claus Rosewing (Non-Aligned): Rosewing will unite the Cloudbury-Herzland identity and stimulate the economy.
- Ignatius Bronzetail (Non-Aligned): Bronzetail will restore royal and noble powers, grant local autonomy, and improve employment.
- Julius Eagleclaw (Supremacy): Eagleclaw will curtail parliamentary powers, make military service mandatory, and create a corporatist economy.
The central focuses of the focus tree (Unite The Houses) are shared between all Prime Ministers. This path focuses on satisfying both Cloudburians and Herzlanders, and eventually removes "Skepticism On All Sides".
The final focus "The Greenback Accords" unlocks decisions that allow Cloudbury-Herzland to guarantee other neighboring Griffon countries.
Military Tree
The military tree is shared between all political paths, and is unlocked when the national spirit Unruly Army is removed or replaced. The military tree consists of three components: an air force tree, an army tree, and a navy tree.
- Army Tree
The army tree is further subdivided into three paths:
- The Wisdom of Marshal Rosewing: Available if Rosewing wasn't purged (if the Republic wins the civil war against the NRA, reforms the military, or if Suntail takes power in the NRA). Focuses on Grand Battleplan Doctrine.
- The Wisdom of Marshal Kemerskai: Available if Kemerskai wasn't overthrown (if the Republic loses to the NRA). Focuses on Superior Firepower Doctrine.
- The Wisdom of Marshal Suntail: Available if Suntail wasn't purged (if the Republic wins the civil war against the NRA, reforms the military, or if Rosewing takes power in the NRA). Focuses on Mass Assault Doctrine.
"Reorganize Support Units", "Retake Control of the Stockpiles", "Braving The Cloudbury Winters", and "Braving The Cloudbury Mountains" and the focuses that follow them are available for all three army tree paths.
The final focus, "Lostgate Military Academy", grants an additional research slot.
- Air Force Tree
The air force tree is divided into two paths:
- Gustav's Sky High Fighters: Focuses on fighters.
- Waldermar's All-Weather Bombers: Focuses on bombers.
The center focuses ("Perfecting Our Air Doctrine") are shared between both paths.
- Navy Tree
The navy tree is divided into two paths:
- Saxhagen-Plumenjar Doctrine: Focuses on Fleet in Being Doctrine.
- Hassentelf Doctrine: Focuses on Trade Interdiction Doctrine.
The center focuses ("Expand Winghagen Ports") are shared between both paths.
Economy Tree
The economy tree is shared between all political paths, and is unlocked when the national spirit Banditry is removed.
"Banking Reform" and "A Self-Sufficient Economy" will remove the negative national spirit Moderate Poverty, while "Cloudbury Education Initiative", "Expand Northern Schools", and "Illiterate No Longer" will remove the negative national spirit Mass Illiteracy.
"Institute of Applied Sciences" grants an extra research slot.

However, due to our previous inaction the army’s morale has plummeted and some units have resorted to plundering and mutiny. This completely destroys our ability to wage any sort of military campaign and hurts the respect the citizens have for our government. The soldiers and their opportunist generals must be brought back in line before the army completely disintegrates, leaving the country defenceless.

Father Of The Republic
|
Alexander Kemerskai was born in Vinnin, the third son of Baron Aldus Kemerskai. With too late a place in succession and too insignificant a griffon to truly become one of the nobility, Kemerskai tried many odd jobs - he played cornet in the Vinnin Orchestra and was a constant guest at every event in town - eventually, however, he joined the Imperial military. He rose to the ranks of Artillerieoffizier in the Imperial Army, and was set to have a promising career in the armed forces as a Marshal. But fate had different ideas for Griffonia.
The tumultuous years that preceded 978 have disillusioned Kemerskai of his loyalty to the Emperor. He could not stand seeing the decadent nobility leech of others' hard work, nor did he approve of the awful conditions the commonfolk were subjected towards. Thus, he began plotting with like-minded officers and made use of the brewing peasants' insurrection. After a particularly crass display of authority abuse from the Regency Council, the people had enough and stormed the Imperial Palace. In the confusion that followed, Kemerskai found his way as the leader of the newly proclaimed Griffonian Republic. But this success was not meant to last. Although Kemerskai was popular and commanded respect, he could not control everygriff, and ruling the already weakened country became impossible. It did not take long for a reactionary movement to rise up and banish the republican supporters from the Heartlands. The long march began towards the northern reaches of the fractured Empire, where they have taken control of the region from nobles attempting to start their own independent nation. Many years have passed since those events, and yet Marshal Kemerskai's devotion to the republican cause has not wavered. Although even now he has to deal with unruly subordinates, he still holds all the cards in his claws. He is also a prolific author, and his many writings inspire republican movements across the entire Griffonia to follow his cause. |

Rikard Astler, founder and leader of the Left-NRP, was born in Cloudbury in 981, when it was under the control of the Republic, one of the only ministers in Kemerskai's government to have not fought in the Long March nor the Revolution. Astler's father, a native Cloudburian, and his mother, a refugee from the Republic's territory in the Heartlands, raised him with a pro-native policy, and Astler would soon begin to idolize the Socialist Republic of Skynavia and its unique system of government.
Participating in numerous socialist and unionist movements, Astler eventually became a City Councilgriff in Cloudbury, under the banner of the Left-NRP, promising a democratic socialist government for the Republic. Although he abandoned many of his pro-Skynavian views during his tenure in the City Council of Cloudbury, many began to distrust him, and he endured slander after attack on his character. However, against all odds, Astler was elected Mayor of Cloudbury in 1005, in local elections allowed by the Kemerskai government. His opponent, a fierce Republican and anti-communist, was driven out of his seat, and Astler instantly began to further progressive reform efforts in the industrializing city. His mayoral position has now put him in an interesting situation - as one of the most powerful politicians in the Republic, Astler has the powerful and influence to become the next President of the Republic - if he does not fall to anti-Skynavnian fervour. |

Reinhard Suntail was born in Crona, a province in the heart of the Griffonian Empire. His family was poor, and lived on scraps. Suntail, wanting to escape the dreary farmlands of Crona, joined the Imperial Army at the age of 15, and journeyed to the city of Griffenheim, where he was placed into the brigade of Alexander Kemerskai, a renowned Artillerieoffizier in the Griffonian Empire and one of Grover's most promising generals.
Suntail joined Kemerskai's plot to overthrow the empire, believing the monarchy of Griffonia was decadent, oligarchic, and drew upon the worst conditions of Griffonkind - greed and lust for power. Suntail participated in the battle for the Imperial Palace, and eventually found his way in command of an entire Republican batallion. With it, he went to his old hometown of Crona and engaged in a brutal looting campaign in an event which would be recalled as "The Rape of Crona" years later. When the revolutionaries began the long march north, Suntail began to doubt the harmonist values that Kemerskai was so dedicated to, and joined a new party - The Griffonian National Revolutionary Front, an ultranationalist organization dedicated to populism, republicanism, and fanatic devotion to the nation state and people. While Kemerskai did not trust Suntail, he was forced to make him the second most powerful griffon in the republic, and he became Kemerskai's top general. When the Griffonian National Revolutionary Front was banned after a terrorist attack in Cloudbury in 1003, Suntail sent his army North, and began to loot, plunder, and sack both Republican and foreign strongholds for weapons and loot. He became a vicious bandit warlord, known for his sheer brutality against both harmonist and monarchist institutions. |

Ideological Crusader
War Industrialist
|
Schnabel Sunglider did not lose his eye in the service of his glorious Republic so that he could see it fall to limp-wristed conservatives, Skynavian-sympathizing democratic socialists, and vicious warlords. Vice-President of the Republic from 995 to 1003, and Chief of Staff from 1003 onwards, Schnabel Sunglider has been one of the staunchest supporters of the regime of Alexander Kemerskai and the democratic values that were promised by the revolution of 978.
Ever the idealist, Sunglider has fought for the rights of the people since he joined the National Republican Party in 975 ALB, becoming an unofficial leader of the party during his teenage years. From there, he rose to power in the revolution of 978 ALB, shaking claws with Marshal Kemerskai and together proclaiming the Griffonian Republic, along with generals Claus Rosewing and Reinhard Suntail. Sunglider fought with Reinhard Suntail in the Crona campaign, but took a bullet to the eye during the fighting. Whisked away by medics, Sunglider miraculously survived, but found Crona in ruins - Reinhard Suntail had sacked the city to the ground in vengeance for Imperial crimes and the percieved death of Sunglider. Although he never fully recovered from the loss of his eye, Sunglider kept fighting, and dissatisfied with Suntail, Sunglider fought with Kemerskai during his campaigns in the North with a fury that two-eyed griffons could barely match. A one-eyed phantom, Sunglider remained a battle-hardened tactician and fearsome general throughout his service in the Republican military. Now, Sunglider is in a prime position of power, and is ready to protect the Republican dream at any cost. |

If you asked a Republican citizen what Heinrich Kingfeather, arguably the second most powerful griffon in the Republic, has done in the last 4 years, despite his vast agenda, they would be unable to tell you anything.
Heinrich Kingfeather was born in 949 ALB in Greengate, Yale. Trained in law and economics, the young Kingfeather did not seem like a suitable candidate for a revolutionary leader at all, but his progressive legal precedents led him to become one of Republicanism's staunchest defenders. When the Revolution broke out in 978, Kingfeather was originally skeptical, but eventually joined Kemerskai once Griffenheim had been seized and the regency council driven out. As a lawyer and politician first and revolutionary second, Kingfeather advocated for Republicanism at the international level, attempting numerous deals with both Equestria and the River Coalition - both who largely denied his advances. His legal and political action during Kemerskai's term eased public instability and anger at the Republicans, but it could not save the revolution militarily. Kingfeather, instead of participating in the Long March, fled to Skyfall and then the newly independent City of Fezera, before finally arriving in the Republic to cheering crowds after its control over Cloudbury was secured. Although his inability to support the Republicans in the Long March was a point of disapproval for many, Kingfeather continued to represent the people of the Republic in their new seat in Cloudbury. Kingfeather's work has largely been behind the scenes since he became Kemerskai's second-in-command in 1003, replacing ambitious militarist Schnabel Sunglider with a focus on largely domestic issues. Faced with an unruly military and banditry in the countryside, Kingfeather began to construct a policy that countered Sunglider's beliefs of violent reaction to dissidence. Kingfeather met with hundreds of native leaders in acts that helped mend the complete chaos in the countryside following Rosewing's initial agitation, acts that led him to become one of the most pro-native leaders on the national level. Pragmatism was Kingfeather's main goal, a goal that became more and more difficult with the polarization of the country between political and ethnic lines. Will he ever succeed? Or will he die with all the cards in his claws and no bravery to use them, as his opposition claims? |

Claus Rosewing, once Kemerskai's most trusted friend in the battle against reaction, was born in 941 in the city of Griffing, Angriver.
At the age of 24, he joined the Imperial Army, and soon became a mentor and comrade to Kemerskai when he joined the army soon after. They both were staunch supporters of Grover IV and his new reforms - but they also believed in radical republicanism and democracy. Rosewing, ever the pragmatist, believed that a regime like Grover IV's would make revolution unnecessary - and that the people should only revolt when monarchy became oppressive and decadent. When Grover V took power, however, Rosewing became a supporter of revolution, participating in the mutiny of the Imperial Palace. Rosewing participated in campaigns in Angriver and Katerin, and was appointed in late 978 as Kemerskai's official vice president. Rosewing eventually fled north with Kemerskai, but by that point, the two had suffered many disagreements about republican rhetoric and ideals. In 995, Rosewing was soon removed as Chief of Staff and Vice President, Kemerskai appointed Schnabel Sunglider, a staunch Republican, and Minister of Defense, Reinhard Suntail, an openly far-right but skilled general. Rosewing was sent north to keep the peace with a sizeable force, but instead of keeping the peace, Rosewing began to undermine it. His warlord band soon built connections with native and monarchist groups, and Rosewing engaged in looting of Republican armies and stockpiles. However, Rosewing was not fully anti-government, and always made sure never to attack towns - any soldier who did so would receive the death penalty. And there, in the north, Rosewing has stayed, "defending the peace" for 10 years and counting. |

|
Chiron Stormfeather, called "Suntail's Little Bird" behind his back, is a general of the Republic with suspicious ties to ultranationalist groups. In addition, he has close ties with Reinhard Suntail, a power-hungry and ambitious general who has not responded to any contacts by the republic in years, percieved to have gone rogue and become a warlord. Chiron denies these claims, and claims that Suntail is a perfectly honest and good griffon, and many suspect that Chiron is working with Suntail and assissting his warlordism.
Chiron was born in Griffonstone, and at the age of 13, joined up with the Republican revolution against his father and mother's wishes, joining the brigade of Reinhard Suntail and participating in the Sack of Crona along with the rest of Suntail's forces. Stormfeather quickly became Suntail's apprentice, and Suntail brought Stormfeather with him on all of his missions, teaching him the art of war and vengeance.

Biography: Count Ignatius has ruled Bronzehill since the death of his father Count Georgie in 997. When he was five years old, he travelled to the Imperial City to see Grover V's coronation and was enamoured by the splendour. He returned to the city many times and studied there at Emperor's College, gaining a degree in politics. He became a close friend of the Emperor, who attended his wedding to Izzy Bones-Iron, daughter of the Lord Gems. With her he has had two children, Barnaby and Margaret. During his rule he has been a competent administrator and a beloved defender of Bronzehill and the Emperor, however his policies on supporting Griffon industry over Bronzehill's own has led to the formation of several communist organisations in Bronzehill. While a banking expert from his time in the Wingbardian School of Economics, he has begun to drink and waste himself, fed up with his inability to interact with most of the Republic's people.\n\nThe only thing keeping him with the Republic is his fanatic loyalty to the revolution and to his greatest friend, Heinrich Kingfeather, a fellow academic. Born: 21st of July 972
Biography:Clotbeak De Altesburg was born in 972 to what in Skyfall was considered a middle class family. His father owned a small dockyard in the city's port and was involved in the construction, repair, and refurbishment of ships; as well as having money invested in both trade and fishing. His mother was a commoner from the countryside who moved to the city to marry rich and live high, but ended up finding a true loving partner instead. Clotbeak's father was a well known philanthropist in Skyfall for years before and after the birth of his son and cared immensely for the workers under his care. But the entire family's life was turned upside down when the revolution came to the continent. The revolutionary forces in the nation forced Clotbeak's father to flee to the shores of Nova Griffonia while the rest of the family hid in a small house that had been inherited from his mother's family. As war wracked the town, the De Altesburg family became famous in their small town for shielding Griffons of all manners from violence, including an Imperial commander who they even convinced to peacefully surrender to the Republicans, instead of sentencing his troops to certain death. This was the world Clotbeak De Altesburg grew up in. As he matured he saw the republicans driven out, the rise of Guichard, as well as the increasing burden of the hated griff's age, his father had to stay in Nova Griffonia since Guichard thought him dangerous to have around. In 1000 Clotbeak moved back into the city of Skyfall and became linked with revolutionary groups. Often preferring reform to violence, the revolution following Guichard's death allowed him to rally together more moderate voices in Skyfall to establish, in his own words "A government ruling with a gentle wing, not with a sharpened claw" Portrait By: Scroup |

Gerben Kogchel was born as the son of a bank clerk in De Vleugels, the Feathisian capital. Even though his father died when he was young, Gerben would initially follow his lead, working for a local bank. From studying finances, he quickly learned that the Feathisian state could do better. Many griffons were living in poverty or uncertainty, only a bad illness away from hunger. Distressed by the lack of protection for everygriffon, Kogchel joined the PvdA to fight for worker protection. His genuine empathy and drive to make Feathisia a better place saw him grow popular on the local level, where he became the first PvdA mayor for de Vleugels, which saw the city improving care for the poorest.
His newfound popularity reached across party lines and it was said that Kogchel had a longstanding correspondence with the Grand Duke of Feathisia. When Kogchel entered parliament after winning a leadership election in the labour party, opposition to his plans stiffened. Both the Liberal Democrats and the ducal party resisted his plans and there was even less of a chance the FNV would cooperate. Still, Kogchel laboured on without resenting his political opponents, trying ever so hard to change Feathisia for the better. The social democrat's effort all seemed to crash down in the chaos following the fall of the Empire, as more violent and pessimistic forces overtook Feathisia. However, with Kogchel at the helm, the more moderate griffons never lost hope for a better tomorrow. Kogchel's briefcase full of social reforms became a symbol of hope all on its own, as the politician refused to part with them under any circumstances, to remind himself what he was fighting for. Now after so much death and destruction, it is time to rebuild. Gerben Kogchel hopes to breathe new life into Herzland; to implement working democracy and mend Herzland's unstable society. However, some are worried that the idealistic griffon will leave an already battered region vulnerable in this uncertain age. |

Alexander Kemerskai Jr. was born when his father was still the knight Alexander Kemerskai, a Prince of Vinnin and marshal of the Imperial Army.
Alexander was only 4 when his father launched the revolution that would change the course of world history. He was sheltered by his mother in Griffenheim, and Kemerskai, fearful of losing them, arranged for them to take a boat from a recently-captured Feathisian port up to the peaceful Kingdom of Vedina. When Kemerskai eventually arrived at Cloudbury after his failed revolution, he asked for his son to come with him, and in 981 ALB, they were re-united, Alexander Jr. only 7. Walter Emerich was born to a family of merchants in Winterbell, Strawberry, and was expected to join the family business at the Griffking river. Emerich, however, had different plans for his destiny, and when he turned 16, he bid his parents farewell and took a steamboat down the Griffking to Griffenheim.

Described by many as the "second most powerful griffon in the republic", Reinhard Suntail was one of Kemerskai's most trusted generals during the Griffonian Revolution. A brutal griffon, Suntail's ideology is driven by vengeance and hatred towards the Griffonian Empire and its political system, which he calls "decadent" and "oligarchic". Suntail's relationship with Kemerskai was broken when Kemerskai banned the Griffonian National Revolutionary Front, an organization Suntail was a member of, which advocated for ultranationalism and pan-Griffonian politics. For years, Suntail has led an autonomous army in the countryside, beginning a campaign of banditry against armouries, towns, and farms in the region, contributing to the unruly army that threatens the republic. With enough concessions, however, the most dangerous griffon in the Republic could eventually become one of Kemerskai's most trusted associates, willing to die for the Revolution. |

Tobias Sivenhof was not originally a member of Kemerskai's movement. He was a prominent civil servant in the city of Kloborg during the reign of Otto II. When the Republicans began the long march north, one of the first towns they came upon was Kloborg. Sivenhof persuaded the mayor of the city, Karl Svens-Rinner, to support the Republican movement. Kloborg began to be used as one of the most important Republican strongholds, and for his support in the Long March, Sivenhof became the first senator of Doendejord. Sivenhof's policies were built on compromise, and he became a very popular figurehead in the Republic. |

Claus Rosewing was once Kemerskai's most trusted friend in the battle against the Griffonian monarchy. Rosewing was born in 941 in the city of Griffing, Angriver, perhaps the most backward imperial province. From an early age, he witnessed the poverty common in that area of the Empire, and wondered why it occurred. At the age of 24, he joined the Imperial Army, a couple years before Alexander Kemerskai. When Kemerskai joined the army, they developed a fast friendship, and began to discuss Republican and harmonic ideals. Rosewing, ever the pragmatist, disagreed with the regime of Grover V moreso than the concept of monarchy. He believed that in the right situation, a monarchy could possibly be reformed to suit harmonic ideals. They marched together on the Imperial Palace, and when Kemerskai assumed power, he appointed Rosewing as his second-in-command. |

Suntail's Little Bird |
See description:

Erich Kreiger, born in the Peasant's Republic of Greifenmarschen, was always attracted to republican ideals and rhetoric. He found the peasant's republic, however, severely lacking, as it was a puppet to the monarchists in Griffenheim, and was too weak to get anything substantial done. He joined the Republicans soon after. His experiences in Greifenmarschen have given him skepticism for a decentralized state. Because of this, he joined the right wing of the NRP, believing that a strong government would solve the problems of banditry. Krieger's experience allowed him to become the minister of armaments and war, but he has been criticized by natives for his inability to speak Cloudburian. |

A prolific Republican author, Vinke was born in Fezera. He became famous for his provocative writings, and was eventually exiled from Skyfall for "disturbing the peace" after a particularly violent Republican rally. He found himself in Feathisia, where he joined the National Republican Army. After the march, he became more and more reclusive, and eventually disappeared from public eye entirely, holing himself up in his house on the Vedinan border. He continues to write, but his style becomes more and more confusing, and his writings more and more cryptic. Some of his newer books have sold exceptionally well, such as one criticizing the monarchy of Equestria called "The Lie of Harmonic Monarchy". However, some of his published works have been downright insane, such as one book where he claimed "In the end, the goats will return, and ally with Maar to end our race. |

Olaf, a native of Cloudbury and ever the pacifist, joined the Republic during the Long March. He was a prolific artist, and his art often carried pacifist and republican themes. When the NRP took over the Duchy, Olaf Restjen joined them, and became a popular figurehead for the Republic. He founded the Lostgate Academy of Art, and after that, was elevated to the first Senator of Lostgate. After 2 successful terms under the Harmonist wing of the NRP, he distanced himself from factionalism, disliking the current NRP-Centre leader, Schnabel Sunglider, who advocated for militant expansionism and armaments manufacturing to strike at the Empire. Olaf resigned from his position as senator and resigned to return to his life of painting. He was given the Medal of Honor from President-Marshal Kemerskai for his work in art, and continued to serve the Republican cause through his work. |

See description:

Alexander Kemerskai Jr. |
See description:
Alexander Kemerskai Jr. was born when his father was still the knight Alexander Kemerskai, a Prince of Vinnin and marshal of the Imperial Army.
Alexander was only 4 when his father launched the revolution that would change the course of world history. He was sheltered by his mother in Griffenheim, and Kemerskai, fearful of losing them, arranged for them to take a boat from a recently-captured Feathisian port up to the peaceful Kingdom of Vedina. When Kemerskai eventually arrived at Cloudbury after his failed revolution, he asked for his son to come with him, and in 981 ALB, they were re-united, Alexander Jr. only 7. Alexander, like his father, joined the military once he became 18 and served with dignity, rising the ranks to become a general of the Republic, like his father before him. |

Schnabel Sunglider |

See description:

Reinhard Suntail |
Brilliant Strategist
A natural born strategist that is able to adapt to the dynamics of the battlefield.
|
See description:
He became a vicious bandit warlord, known for his sheer brutality against both harmonist and monarchist insitutions. |

Claus Rosewing |
See description:
Claus Rosewing, once Kemerskai's most trusted friend in the battle against reaction, was born in 941 in the city of Griffing, Angriver.
At the age of 24, he joined the Imperial Army, and soon became a mentor and comrade to Kemerskai when he joined the army soon after. They both were staunch supporters of Grover IV and his new reforms - but they also believed in radical republicanism and democracy. Rosewing, ever the pragmatist, believed that a regime like Grover IV's would make revolution unncessary - and that the people should only revolt when monarchy becomes oppressive and decadent. When Grover V took power, however, Rosewing became a supporter of revolution, participating in the mutiny of the Imperial Army during the March on the Imperial Palace. Rosewing participated in campaigns in Angriver and Katerin, and was appointed in late 978 as Kemerskai's official vice president. Rosewing eventually fled north with Kemerskai, but by that point, the two had suffered many disagreements about Republican rhetoric and ideals. In 995, Rosewing was soon removed as Chief of Staff and Vice President - for Vice President, Kemerskai appointed Schnabel Sunglider, a staunch Republican, and for Minister of Defense, Reinhard Suntail, an openly far-right but skilled general. Rosewing was sent North to keep the peace with a sizable force, but instead of keeping the peace, Rosewing began to undermine it. His warlord band soon built connections with native and monarchist groups, and Rosewing engaged in the looting of Republican armies and stockpiles. However, Rosewing was not fully anti-government, and always made sure never to attack towns - any soldier who did so would recieve the death penalty. And there, in the north, Rosewing has stayed, "defending the peace" for 10 years and counting. |

Jonas Hafslund |
See description:
Jonas Hafslund was born in the Duchy of Cloudbury in 973 ALB, but when the Republicans moved North to secure the Duchy, his parents turned coat, cheering the Republican army as they marched through the hills of Bleakspire. Hafslund followed suit, and when at the age of 18, he immeadiately enlisted in the Republican army - like many new recruits, he was attracted by the passionate speeches of the President-Marshal but also by new, young radicals such as Rikard Astler. Hafslund found himself supporting socialist ideals, and participated in many social-democratic and democratic socialist organizations while an officer.
In 998 ALB, at 25, Hafslund was elevated in rank yet again at the request of many councilors who believed him to be loyal to the Republican cause should large-scale disobedience occur. Hafslund, along with the young strategist Otto Gremmersen, became one of the key griffons of the Young Officer's Movement, loyal to social-democratic policy and revolutionary ideas - in sharp contrast to the old guard who had once been entrenched in the Griffonian army. While Hafslund is still a relatively mediocre general, he has certainly become one of the harbingers of a new movement in the Republic - which has put him at odds with many of his fellow generals... |
