The Kingdom of Griffonstone was the legendary birthplace of the first Emperor of the Griffonian Empire, Grover I. Since then, under the Guto Dynasty it housed the Idol of Boreas, a legendary artefact that had allowed Grover I to conquer all of Griffonia.
However, disaster struck when Guto VI was slain by a cyclops, and the Idol of Boreas lost in the vast abyss below the mountains of Griffonstone.
Since then, Griffonstone has collapsed into a poverty-stricken backwater, riven by strife and greed.
With no King, it is currently ruled by Grandpa Gruff, an elderly Griffon of the community who has little authority.
However, it still has great symbolic value, and nearby nations nations attempting to overthrow the Griffonian Empire such as Wingbardy and Prywhen will wish to take Griffonstone as proof of the power of their Imperial ambitions.
