Falcor is a nation of peace-loving griffons that broke away from the Flag of Griffonian Empire Griffonian Empire after it collapsed. Its ruling family had provided stability and harmony to the country for its short existence until the day Flag of Kingdom of Wingbardy Wingbardy arrived on its doorstep, demanding new land. They fought a bloody and long war that that, in the end, would cost millions of lives and rob the Principality of its crown jewel, the capital city of Falcor.

With its capital lost, army smashed and citizens divided, the Principality is spiraling into political unrest. For Falcor, their end grows nearer, and it will take a firm claw to guide them through these troubled times.

Lore

Falcor is a nation of peace-loving griffons that broke away from the Flag of Griffonian Empire Griffonian Empire after it collapsed. Under Princess Maximilliana, they seized an opportunity to pursue their own interests. Its ruling family had provided stability and harmony to the country for its short existence, that is, until the day Flag of Kingdom of Wingbardy Wingbardy arrived on their doorstep, demanding new land. They fought a long and bloody war that, in the end, would cost millions of lives and rob the Principality of its crown jewel, the capital city of Falcor. To make matters worse, Falcor's Queen, fell ill, leaving the running of the country to her daughter, Princess Maximilliana and her husband, Prince-Consort Alberto.

With its capital lost, army smashed and citizens divided, the Principality began to spiral into political unrest. The Princess must act quickly to address these issues, lest her country fall into chaos. The ruling party of Falcor, 'La Signoria delle Principess,' under Princess Maximilliana is attempting to take a more defensive position, sticking to the status quo as much as possible. While many wish to beat back Wingbardy and retake Falcor, the Princess reasons that diplomacy and maintaining good relations with the nation's neighbours is the best way to preserve the Principality's independence. She isn't against taking back Falcor, though, and will defend her nation at any cost.

With internal strife taking hold of the nation, Gabriele d'Artigilio, leader of Le Aquile Falcoriane - Falcor's resident Fascist party - has taken advantage of the nation's instability to instill a sense of revanchism in the griffons of the Principality. And he will lead Falcor to glory by any means necessary.

Falcor's end seems imminent, it will take a firm claw to guide them through these troubled times.

Starting Situation

Falcor, much like the smaller counties of Central Griffonia, have not really progressed past age of feudalism, with much of their population effectively being serfs, subservient to the higher classes. This has a fairly significant effect on their nation's productivity and research capabilities. However, the nation's crippling illiteracy rate has an even more pronounced effect on these problems. Adding on top of that the nation's high poverty rate, you find yourself in a fairly awful position, especially in comparison to your biggest threat, Wingbardy.

That being said, Falcor has a powerful industrial and science focus tree that's immediately available to the player.

Falcor starts with 9 under-equipped regular trained divisions using a total of 42K ponypower, and a small navy of 2 Destroyers.

Threats and Opportunities

Wingbardy - The Principality's biggest rival and threat, Wingbardy starts out as a significant threat. With your complete lack of manpower at the start of the game, plus them having a significantly larger and better equipped army than you, add on top of that the fact they specifically have focuses where they ask to annex you, or else, matching Wingbardy's strength and, eventually, pushing them back is going to be your biggest priority at the start. Keep in mind that Wingbardy has a significant navy, one of the better one's at the start of the game, while your navy is... there? Make sure to keep your ports sealed up to stop them from just heading around your lines.

Griffonian Empire - After the Empire consolidates itself into a cohesive state, they will very quickly build up and come after its southern neighbours, including you. This will happen during the mid-1010's most likely. If Equestria is still alive at this point, they will most likely guarantee you, or will have already joined a war against the Empire. Again, make sure to keep your ports sealed tight, the AI tends to naval invade wherever there's an opening.

The primary problem facing Falcor against the Empire (for both Non-Aligned and Supremacist Falcor) is that even with a fully annexed Wingbardy, County of Francistria and County of Talouse, Falcor cannot match the industry or manpower of the empire one to one. They must either choose to wait to build up the army and fortifications (placed on strategic terrain), or begin justifying on the Empire so they can declare war before the Empire has reached its full potential.

This is particularly important for a Non-Aligned Falcor player, who must essentially pre-empt the war by justifying on the Empire and declaring war when they're ready, requiring careful timing, fortifications, and artillery-heavy division templates that negate the Empire's numerical advantage. After bleeding the Empire dry, it's then possible to counterattack and take Griffenheim.

A Supremacy Falcor player has more options due to their political focus path that allows them to declare war on and annex the Federated Parishes of Simaceon and Asteron, and gain them as cores, which eventually allows the player to core Wingbardy, adding a significant manpower pool to their disposal. However, the delay in wrapping up that war could allow the Empire time to build up, just as it allows the player to build up their forces.

National Focus

Falcor's Focus Tree

Your first focus, Dark Shadows over Matton decides what side of the political tree you go down, either Supremacy or Non-Aligned. After you take the focus, an event will fire, locking you into one or the other.

If you go down to the Supremacy side, you start to make more radical political parties popular. It also leads to you killing Princess Maximilliana and her husband Prince-Consort Alberto, whilst blaming the Wingbardians for the assassination. This leaves Gabriele in control, free to enact whatever plan he has for the nation. Gabriele's focuses will allow him to strengthen Falcor and get an annexation goal on it. Either way you go, if you manage to defeat Wingbardy, you can declare the Falcorian Legion, eventually getting war goals on the Federated Parishes of Simacoe and Asterion.

However, if you go down the Non-Aligned path, you have three options. If Wingbardy went harmonist, you can either try and ally Wingbardy, asking them to cede Falcor back to you and joining the Karthinian Pact. The other path that's available is asking the Minotaurs to gurantee you and help you rebuild your country. The third option is to prepare your country to retake Falcor by (whether by invading Wingbardy or by Wingbardy invading you) by turning country into a country-sized fort.

The other paths deal with the Economy and Research Department, the Airforce, the Navy, and the Army.

The Economic/Research path starts off by reforming your nation's social structure, as well as building up a few factories. You further go onto stabilize the economy, gaining some one-time research speed bonuses and giving you some more infrastructure. You then go onto help remove some of the illiteracy in the nation before going down the industrial and scientific sides, giving you a modern industrial and scientific base. This is probably your most important focus tree if you are heading the non-aligned route as it will give you the necessary industrial base to build up your army and defenses

The Army path gives the player a choice between bonuses for Superior Firepower and Grand Battleplan doctrine research bonuses, as well as associated Support Equipment and Infantry Equipment research bonuses. Either way, the end of the path gives you boosts to division performance.

The Airforce path gives you more air experience and some one-time research speed bonuses for either bombers or fighters.

The Naval path gives you more naval experience and one-time research speed bonuses for either the Fleet-in-Being or Trade Interdiction doctrines, further giving you speed bonuses on either battleships, carriers, subs or destroyers.

Eighteen years have passed, and the enemy still holds the jewel of our nation. The filthy Wingbardians are despoiling our city, our Falcor! Our citizens have not forgotten, nor will they forgive.

The most radical of revanchists have gathered under the banner of the Eagles of Falcor, who clamour every week for decisive action to retake what is rightfully ours. Some of them have even abandoned their culture and tongue, preferring to emulate the Imperials in the north. The ruling Princess and her cabinet do not wish for a another war, but can they hold in check an entire legion of exiles?

Falcor lies staunchly divided between pacifists and warmongers, weary appeasers and rabid nationalists, supporters of Princess Maximilliana and supporters of Gabriele d'Artiglio. Everygriffon wishes to see Falcor returned to our care, but the proposed methods to achieve this goal vary wildly. As such, the nation is deadlocked in this debate while their neighbours grow stronger.

The namesake of our state, and the site where the first Falconi kings ruled, the city of Falcor lies beyond our reach in the claws of the hated Wingbardians, as we were forced to concede it after the war 18 years ago. Many citizens still bemoan this loss, especially the ones who were forcefully displaced. Those who remained are treated as second class residents.

Crown Princess of the Falcorian realm and the Queen's only child, Maximilliana has led a difficult life. Rushed home from her boarding school after her mother grew weak and ill, she was forced to become the acting ruler at the age of 14, with only the assistance of a noble council who often had different ideas on what was best for Falcor during the tumultuous years after 989. In spite of many difficulties, the young Princess has navigated through the circumstances and brought the nation a relative degree of stability. She has even found love, in the form of a local noble named Alberto, who now acts as Prince-Consort, although he very rarely participates in politics.

But the peace was not meant to last. Over the years, a large number of griffons, veterans and exiles from the war, have begun clamouring for retribution to what they perceived as Wingbardian tyranny. Thus they threaten the monarchy's rule, with their protests and strikes, and a large number of bystanders supports their side. Princess Maximilliana must find a way to placate the extremists while dealing with a hostile foreign presence, lest the line of Falcor extinguishes.

Born: 25th of October, 947 in Falcor

Biography: The reign of Queen Maximilliana began auspiciously, coming during a time when relations between Falcor and Wingbardy were peaceful, and close cooperation between the two nations was the status quo. Maximilliana met her eventual husband at a young age, the two becoming married shortly after her coronation in 969. She gave birth to her only child eight years later, but by that time Falcor's situation had become dire.

Following the death of King Gumberto, Wingbardian relations with Falcor began to deteriorate, as the newly-crowned King Talonuel was focused on his nation's internal affairs. The eventual secession of Wingbardy and the chaotic collapse of the Griffonian Empire left Falcor geopolitically isolated, and the once nearly nonexistent border with Wingbardy had become a flashpoint of tension.

After Meranclawo, war was the only option—so said her advisors—and the four year slog of the Falcorian War began. Although there were brief flashes of hope, the Falcorian army was overmatched and eventually defeated. In the face of protestations, Queen Maximilliana remained in Falcor throughout the entire course of the war, and suffered every bit of hardship along with her people. The Queen's hardships not only included shortages of food and clothing, but also the death of her husband during the city-wide plague of 988.

After signing the Treaty of Asbolus, Maximilliana became chronically ill with a sickness doctors were unable to identify, although most griffons believed it to be a variant of the plague. After an extremely long period of rest, she has fully recovered, seemingly prompted by renewed hope for Falcor's future. The Queen has said she views the Falcorian War as a painful lesson in the value of diplomacy, and vows never to repeat the same mistake again.

Former colonel in the Falcorian army, Gabriele d'Artiglio has served with distinction in the war against Wingbardy. He took part in the battle of Asbolus Forest, where he was grievously wounded by an artillery shell. Dragged away from the battlefield, he could do nothing but hear news of imminent defeat, which prolonged his recovery, as he believed Falcor was just one battle away from achieving victory. To this day, he still blames neighbouring Sicameon for not intervening in their favour, although the truth is that they were unwilling to assist a despotic monarch. In spite of everything, d'Artiglio was personally commemorated by Queen Maximilliana for his valour and bravery.

Considered unfit to continue serving in the forces due to his crippled leg, d'Artiglio turned his personal attention to the arts. He became renowned for his poetry and paintings, although art critics have noted that his works were rather heavy on misery and gloom. Over the years, he became a rallying point for Falcor's many veterans and exiles, who likewise thought to have unfinished business with Wingbardy, and organised them into a paramilitary force. d'Artiglio has a personal distaste for the Wingbardian dialect, believing it to be an unwieldy, ugly language unfit for literature. In his opinion, Falcorian should be the dominant dialect of the southern griffons instead.

Now with the pacifist opposition removed, Gabriele d'Artiglio will go through any obstacle to achieve the dream of a restored Falcor, exacting swift retribution on all who have done his nation harm.

Biography: Erika von Feveros was born to a minor noble family in the logging business near the Scheißwald forest. She lived a content childhood. Her father held a commission in the Angriver army as an artillery officer and one of her favorite pastimes was to listen to her father's tales of his time in the army.

But in 978 her life was turned upside down when chaos came to Angriver and Gerhart Bluhm's Republicans attempted their coup. With her having relatives in Wingbardy, her family attempted to flee the country. For almost 6 years they traveled through lands of Eyrie and Griffonstone even being caught by Blackrock Bandits for period of time before escaping by pure luck. Those harsh times spent in constant danger changed Erika's way of seeing the world and gave her a lot of knowledge despite her young age.

The journey south however, ended in Falcor in 985 with Erika and her family being caught in the offensive of the Wingbardian army. Unfortunately, in a few months from start of the war her parents were killed as many of the civilian casualties of the war. With no money, no support, and nowhere to go, Erika, using chaos in the military bureaucracy, signed up with the Falcorian army, taking part in their 987 offensive. Despite not being from Falcor, her achievements in both command and developing strategies had her receive praises from the Queen and honorary citizenship.

With her charismatic demeanor, adapt command of griffons and with experience acquired during her journey, she used her pragmatic nature to rise up the command ladder, following in her father's footsteps to command artillery in the conflict. She emphasises the tactics of attack and the concentrated use of firepower to back up the offensives of the regular soldier. Always one to have a mug of ale in claw she hasn't grown rusty over the years and remains once more as one of Falcor's primary commanders.

"What you truly need, is a good piece of ordnance." - Erika "Queen of Shells"
